Old-School Gaming Systems

Maybe this should be in another section, but with all this talk about hi-end systems and new consoles, I decided that some variety might be nice.

So what's the oldest gaming system you own (in working condition) or have played?

I (or technically my family, since I'm not on my own yet) have an original game-boy, SNES, and *drumroll please* a working 1977 Atari 2600 with about 20 games, including Pong Sports. We pull the last one out every once in a while for some simple fun. You have no idea how fun it is playing a system that's older than I am.

get a commodore 64 with a monochrome moniter, and you will know the definition of old.

Hate to say it, but the Atari (1977) is older then the Commodore (1982). But it's not a competition (so I really shouldn't have said what I just did). Very nice though. I grew up playing on an Apple II in elementary school, so I can imagine what the Commodore was like.

Own: Amiga 500.

Played: This old computer that looked like one of those little heaters you put down on the floor, those little boxy Vulcan ones with the whirring fans. It was running Little Computer People, which I class as an early forerunner of The Sims. The screen was smaller than a postcard.

I stille have a SEGA Master System and a Mega Drive laying around... the electronics weren't terribly good though, and it's especially hard getting the MS to work. I also have an original Game Boy somewhere... and we once had a Green Screen Amstrad that ran off tapes (I've forgotten the name, but it was a challenger to the Spectrum and what have you, in the early eightees)

The C64 was king back in its' days, until came along the Amiga... I remember a friend of mine was bragging how his Amiga was much better than my C64, and he was right! I was jealous of him and his 256 color graphics, that bastard!

Ive still got the first game boy and a snes somewhere but thats as old as any of my gaming systems ever were. Also got an Atari Jaguar (a royal waste of money that turned out to be)

I remember it like it was yesterday. My first home console was the Sega Genesis. I love that console to death and I still have it. Frankly, the best console ever made. It's just a sweet memory of mine. :cheese:

My mum had a thing that plugged into the tele and we played pong, but it was just a pong machine as far as i know. rocked

Ditto, on the last part. Overall favorite platformer would have to be Ruff 'n' Tumble, though...

I have my old NES lying around... Several years ago, my old house burned down, but my NES survived. I got it out after the fire, but I somehow forgot to get the R/F connection cord, and now I can't find one anywhere. It drives me nuts! All I wanna do is play a little Marble Madness or Metalstorm. Is that too much to ask?

Played: Atari 2600

Own: Atari 2600, but it doesn't work. There's one chip that I need to replace. The next one up would be the Atari 7800. My dad used to go dumpster diving at the Atari complex and would take home bags filled with broken games. He would open them up and fix them.

I used to have an N64 that i got for christmas in 1995. I was like "These graphics are so real looking!" lol...Ive said the same about Half-Life 2 now lol
