I like some of Stephen king movies. I admit some were dumb. The only two i could really get into was Pet Sematary and Cujo. Pet Sematary two was retarded though.

I think King is a pretty cool guy. eh writes books and doesnt afraid of anything

i think IT is a pretty cool guy. eh floats down here and doesnt afraid of anything.

The Shining, I know Kubricks version differs from the book but there was a TV miniseries that was more faithful to the novel, and it kinda sucked.

Oh, and Carrie but this again differs significantly from the book. There a few older movies based on his novels (Shawshank Redemption, Stand By me) great movies but they all deviate from the novels its the TV miniseries that follow his novels more, The Tommy Knockers wasn't too bad.

I loved the book. But Kubrick's film was a masterpiece. Especially if you look into the "mistakes" that Kubrick made. The following is a really interesting read:

wow, nice read, took up my morning when I should of been working :P Kubricks Shining was fantastic, I admit though mosts of Kings books ive read were after watching their film adaptations :o

Yea he is pretty good. Another one of his movies I really enjoyed was one of his new ones desperation.

That was a good one too. The only movie that wasnot made from a book was pet sematary two. That one was never published as a book.

It might be because of my love for class 8 trucks, but I absolutely loved Maximum Overdrive. His movies were always acted very badly but I love the story. I really like how in one scene a truck would have a small amount of "blood" on it and then a few frames later it would have about 10 times as much even though the truck hadn't hit anything else.

Most King movies are either pretty shit.

Good ones I've seen are The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, and It... even though it's incredibly cheesy.

There was one book I read as a kid that I loved...but I can't remember the name of it. A writer gets lost in the wilderness and an obsessive fan finds him and keeps him tied up and such so he won't leave....

Most King movies are cheap n nasty (with exceptions - Shawshank, Shining, Stand by Me) with no attempt at seriousness. Just because SK writes mainly horror fiction, why do screenwriters always over-camp his adaptations?

There are a few others worth seeing that haven't been mentioned yet:

Dolores Claiborne - not that bad at all, really - Kathy Bates is as good as she was in Misery
1408 - Based on the short story in Everything's Eventual, starring John Cusack - not really that good imo but worth renting out if you're bored
Cat's Eye - 80's collection of short stories including The Ledge, Quitters Inc. starring James Woods. Entertaining.
The Dead Zone - 80's thriller starring Christopher Walken - creepy at the time, will probably look quite lame now
The Langoliers - a Four Past Midnight short story turned into a looooong dragged out movie which is worth seeing just to say you've seen it.

The Talisman film rights were sold to Spielberg in the 80's but a movie was never made, despite promises that it was imminent. I think Peter Jackson would be the better man for that one.

The Misery is good too. pet semataries were good when i was younger, but i recently watched them again and meh, they weren't even scary anymore.

did you know there are a crapload of King's movies uploaded on YouTube?

If you want real cheese, I forgot Maximum Overdrive \o/
