Unbelievable.. let me start at the beginning... this is how my day went at E3... what an incredible day: Click underneath each statement for a picture
First we arrive, wait in line, some Americas Army helicopters flew overhead:
Next, we arrive inside pretty packed:
Pass up the Dukes of Hazard car, and the Dragster:
One of the first things I see is Battlefield 2, VERY impressive, ragdoll physics, incredible explosions:
Leisure Suit Larry looks really funny:
I decide to check out the ATI booth, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, and a bunch of other games, including HL2, I jump into the HL2 line and end up waiting and hour and a half..lol
The demo was really cool, I suggest everyone go download it, I never realized how good the character models are, they are absolutely stunning:
Counterstrike Aztec redone on Source engine!
Hard to see, but there is a 6800 Ultra in there:
No explanation
Head over to the Abit booth, they got a cool motherboard on display, with PCI X, also talked to some of the Sapphire guys, and learned about a ATI 9900 (Like a 9600se he said):
Saw the Unreal3 techdemo, same one thats floating around the net:
During the day I picked up a speed pass to see the real Half Life 2 demo, not the one in ATI's booth. I arrived on time, and it was my last activity for the day. I walked into the room... and there he was.. ****ing Gabe Newell!!! I could not believe my eyes... I nearly spazed out right there!! Before it started he took a few questions. Someone asked about the release date, he said summer. I wanted to ask a question, but... its ****ing Gabe Newell!! I could barely even contain myself:
That show ended and I finally mustered up enough to approach Gabe... I shook his hand, and told him that I couldn't believe Gabe Newell is in front of me. He said he grew up much like me, drooling over Tim Sweeny and John Carmack. He also said that he is in the World of Warcraft beta. I asked him if HL2 was going to support Pixel Shader 3.0, and he said they are busy with more important things.
Finally he said that someday he wants to be shaking my hand, and that I should get in the industry... Encouragement from Gabe Newell himself!!! Afterwards I got his autograph, and the thing is already framed. Wow... Unbelievable. Can't wait until day 2 tommorrow!!!
