OMG did you read yet

Hoaxer: We know that there will be large open water areas (sea). How have you solved the problem of the player from swimming to "the end of the world" :) ?

Gabe Newell: Say hello to my little ichthyosaur ;-)

LOL this is practically the SAME EXACT answer I posted to this question a while back. It could only mean me and Gabe communicate telepathically.

I didn't really like the op4 monsters, it didn't make sense how the army fought them but gordon went thru the whole complex and never did.

They appeared after Gordon went to Xen.

I thought I read somewhere striders were mutated headcrabs?

besides you can't manufacture organic creatures.

who the hell said they where organic creatures....

I always thought of striders like Dragoons from Starcraft. Living creature, only the brains and essential organs inside the shell of pure metal.

Besides, bullets didnt seem to do much to the strider in the Strider movie. I'd hardly think a bird would.

HAHhahaahahahaahahhahahhahahhaahahahahahah HAHahahahah rofl :D

Because they don't look very manufactured, however maybe the combine takes organic beings and fuses them with machinery like the borg, and thats why they're called combine...

Sorry to kill the buzz, but wasn't Gabe's response a little non-specific?
It still looks like it could go either way. :x

I'm glad Icthy's back. Or maybe an even larger monster patrolling the level boundaries?

Also, will the half-of-the-old-creatures-coming-back include Opposing Force's?

No, I think it was in the IRC VALVe chat, someone from VALVe said that race-x (see http://www.planethalflife.com/opfor/guide/enemies.shtm for pictures) wasn't making a return in HL2. So half of the enemies in HL2 will be pure HL1 enemies (same concept, better graphics) and the other half will be new creatures.

We already know about headcrabs/zombies (we've seen em). We've heard about barnacles for sure (which is good: they kick ass for atmosphere and taking out enemies, even if they aren't all that dangerous to you).

We don't know if the Xen alien troops (slaves, grunts, and floatyhead things) and I sort of doubt it. Houndeyes? Bullsquids? Gargs (though, to be fair, they looked like the same sorts of evolutionary track as the other Xen aliens)

Hoaxer: Will we guess during the game who was mother of Alyx Vance?

Gabe Newell: The G-Man is actually a hermaphrodite. Don't tell anyone ;)

Hoaxer: Can you comment why Calhoun wears clothes of Combine Soldiers?

Gabe Newell: That's pretty much all they sell at the Gap in the future :)

these two questions at the end really made me laugh and doubt if this is really Gabe?

Then I looked at the name of the interviewer and doubted some more.

My theory is that valve have finished HL2 and Gabe has pressure off his back and now is happy and funney :)(?)

No need to worry. A part of the questions from this interview were made with collaboration of a russian HL2 fan site(www.******).

Probably an Admin seeing as they're the only guys who can do this-Oh, and moderators too.

When you use the words: Gabe, Newell and interview together, it becomes something offensive...

The interview is posted on the collective.(VERC)

Also, yes he is playing.
