Cartoon type thing I drew for my website. I'm thinking of making a series of these, with this little chap in various situations. What do you think?

That picture would look a helluva lot better if you made it cartoony and digital.

I would love to be able to do that, I really would, but I lack the means. I can't draw with a mouse, and those laptops that you write on cost many monies.

I'm sorry if you didn't want anyone to do it for you, but I like doing this kinda stuff. It's a pretty cheap job though... (Flash was not made for this)

Edit: Bah, knew I forgot something. Shading on hat added.

You can still do it, but not as easy as something like photoshop.

I have a Tablet, Jangle. USB device, you have an electronic pen, and you just draw on that and it moves the mouse. Mine also has pressure sensitivity. Some even have angle detection.

BUT I did not use a tablet at all for this drawing. This is all mouse work. Tablet would be way too hard :O All you do is draw lines and shape them with the mouse for this kinda stuff.

Graphire3 tablets cost $100. I have one, but that's not how I would go about converting that to a digital image. I would use Flash, and use a mouse. Using flash for cartoons is reaaally easy and kinda cheap-ish, but its awesome for simple stuff like that. You create shapes like simple squares and circles, and then you bend them to fit over your drawing with a mouse. I can NOT use the brush tool with a mouse, but this is much different.

And I have no friggin' clue what you're talking about, Vegeta. Flash was completely designed for altering shapes to make cartoons...

Well, yeah, cartoons and such, but it wasn't designed for quality vectoring and lineart. Perhaps you've never tried doing it in Photoshop to see how much more advanced it is.

Flash was not completely designed for drawing cartoons :P What do you call all that action script? And all the animation tools? The perfect program for drawing cartoons would have advanced line shaping and drawing (with gradual line thickness, something I wish Flash had so that a large line connecting to a small line wouldn't look as odd as it does in Flash without tweaking) and a bunch of other crap that I don't feel like recalling.

Of course Flash is probably the best program out there for animating (keyword) cartoons. But it's not completely dedicated to doing that so therefor it is not 'the perfect program'. :p

I think you're talking about Adobe Illustrator, which is meant for vector art. Photoshop is not for that... I prefer using flash, though.

Sorry that I used the word "completely..." obviously I don't think that Flash was made 100% for making internet cartoons. I have no idea what Flash was originally designed for or anything about that, but I don't see how that matters. Flash does a lot of things, like websites, action scripting, games, and all that. But one of the things Flash is good for, though, is making cartoons. I like it more than Illustrator and... Photoshop.

I was only responding to how you said Flash was "not meant" to make vector art cartoons. Which I'm pretty sure its meant to do and its damn good at doing.

I seem to lack the mad skillz needed to do it in flash or whatever, so I'll just stick to drawing.
 
that rocks, you could go try to sell your cartoon to cartoon network.. for a million dollars, no haggling.
