What is rthdribl ?

Rthdribl is a "Real-time High Dynamic Range Image-Based Lighting" demo. DirectX(R) 9.0 high-precision texture formats and version-2.0 of Pixel Shader represent real-time true HDR rendering.

Technical features of the demo are:

* True HDR (High-Dynamic Range) Rendering
* IBL (Image-Based Lighting)
* Glare Generation (Afterimage, Bloom, Halo, Ghost, and Star)
* Automatic Exposure Adjustment
* Iris shaped Depth of Field blur
* Realistic Motion Blur
* FSAA (Full-Scene Anti-Alias)
* Fresnel Effect (Specular Reflectance) etc.

The Glare, Motion Blur, Fresnel Reflection and Depth of Field effects work properly by rendering with the HDR (see Fig.1-3).
Fig.4 shows the "Automatic Exposure Adjustment".
And Fig.5 images are are variety of the Glare patterns that can be generated in the demo.

These effects are still expensive for real-time rendering like games, but will hopefully be of practical use in the near future.
Enjoy the future real-time rendering!

Huh? I just saw the 9800 pro for $350 on the shelf at DataVision today.

By the time 9900 comes out, the price will fall to $300 and that's when I'll move in :)

depends on the options, if multisample is off and you have depth of field off and uh glare type set to natural bloom i get about 78-85 FPS.

on the other hand, if i have depth of field set to 6-blade iris (141 taps) glare type to camera, 4x multisample, fresnel effect on, fille inside off, i get 29-32 FPS.

thats on grace.lem BTW, im not gonna go test each light enviroment, but yeah.

Heheh not if I get it first. Well... then you'll get another one but... shut up! >_<

Is a GF4 MX a DX9 card? I'm downloadin now but I'm 56k so I wanna know if I should bother :p

LOL, already downloaded ^^ My bad, crashed it now >.<

No, I have a Geforce 4 MX 440-Se, shittastic card, im going to snap its ass in half.

On default when i load it up i get 30FPS on my machine. Im at work at the mo but ill tell ya more when i get home ;)

Concerning FPS, we did a comparison in a hardware thread:

(default settings, just starting the program, NOTE: version 1.1)
9700 Pro got around 30 fps no matter FSAA/AF settings (28-36 dependant on setting)
5900 Ultra get 15 fps without FSAA/AF :x

G4 isnt DX9... But I wonder why the 9600 doesnt work with it... Could be a software issue though.

Btw, maybe I should try it on my Riva 128? :)
Though I dont know if I can stare at the download menu for too long, 10x7 on a 21 inch is making me nauscious... 8x6 makes me wish for more. 6x4 is good, cant see crap though.
Oh wait... Just saw I dont even have detonators installed, just the standard windows riva drivers. Maybe, just maybe, it wont run ;)
