Reminded me of the old 60's commericals about the soviets invading america.

I've got a few old vids like that. V.funny.
Best one is the "Duck and Cover". Yes kids, should a nuclear blast go off near you, duck and cover, even a newspaper will provide protection from a terrible burn" They really do say this "Suncream can help protect you from the effects of a nuclear weapon"

Funny, but a little alarming too....

Woot, we are gonna kick some Korean ass now!

**gets ready to hear the millions of country songs to be made about kicking Korean ass in the name of freedom**

Charlie Daniels is already working on a sequel to his 2001 hit song which featured inspiring, patriotic, good ol' American lyrics such as "This ain't no rag, it's the flag and we don't wear it on our heads". God bless 'em.

I find the whole situation quite funny- really, I'm laughing. While we're jerking off in Iraq we let North Korea and Iran build a nuclear arsenal. Nice work, George.

<Twangy Alan Jackson Country Music Voice>

Where were you.....when North Korea declared it had nuclear weapons and we decided to bomb them in the name of freeeeedoooooom...

The question though isn't what sort of nuclear capabilities North Korea has, but what are the capabilities of their delivery platforms. Do they possess icbms?
I remember news reports about 2 years ago saying North Korea had been testing delivery systems that were capable of reaching Japan.

I smell another Cold War

The one that's been going on for a few years now?

Oh btw guys, thanks for the rescue. It was really touch and go there for a while but once Tr0n signalled for our Pirate Ninja allies to attack it was all over bar the shouting. Thanks!

who cares!!!!!! yay 700 posts!!!!!!!!!!!definetly, not something to be proud of!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's the thing, see, what's happening is exactly the same as the way the US built up the Soviet 'mena'ce into this huge unstoppable (imaginary) enemy.

As for the nukes...it is almost certain that Japan was about to surrender anyway, and the main reason the US did it was to show the rest of the world, chiefly the Soviets, that they had nukes and were not afraid to use them. The second nuke, in fact, was simply to show they had more than one, that it wasn't just a one-off.

No. Japan wasn't about to surrender. The emperor was held hostage by the Army, which wanted to wage war to the last man.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved lives.

After Rice called NK an "outpost of tyranny" (or something similar) I think it was a good move by NK to stand up to the ricy condo and slap 'er in the face.

Thumbs up, Kim Jong!

Ya always a good idea to spend more money on a diplomatic bargaining chip that will only get you into trouble as a way of slapping someone in the face than it is to spend that money on making the lives of the people living in your own country better.

Wow this is kinda sad. Me personally i have no respect for Bush, but he is the president, therefore we back him up. (Note this is kinda like Vietnam redux) At least i do, hell the Taliban was one thing but Iraq was a waste of US lives.

Thumbs up to King Jong?? ARE You a Jackass, or just a little slow?? This man spend monet on a Nuke program while his people are starving and out of work? If you were there you would (well, if you spoke against him you would be dead but...) want to get out of there! This is why i laugh at all of you, becuase you are in one way or another living in a coutry where you are not afraid of your government taking your husband or wife or children away as a form of "motivation." You are safe, and don't give me BS about terrorists, they were always a "threat," just now they have risen to front stage. Hell, the media is more a threat then the terrorists. My personal favorite is some Jackass reporter spouting,
"An i have heard from a dependable source that in the future airlines will be required to have a button on the underside of the pilots seat that if pressed will cause the airplane to go on an uncontrollable auto pilot that will land it at the nearest large airport, therefore preventing another 9/11..."

Oooh. Another Cold War sounds nice. Technological progress increases when my country has competition.

King Jong Il is a very bad man, look what he did to Hanz Blixx.

You all seem to be missing an important point, North Korea is like a current Nazi Germany. Did no-one see the panorama/ maybe horizon programme about NK with an ex NK prison guard? *shivers*

But the US is bad and evil, so North Korea should have Nukes, because we like to blow up every thing every where.. *cough*

china's prison is like that ..so is turkey's, so is taiwans, philipines, congo, south africa, sierra leon, iraq, haiti etc etc etc ...are you going to help them all?

hey maybe someone should invade Iraq cuz the new regime tortures and executes prisoners

Easy for you to make those comments, mr. "I'm on the opposite side of the world in a country that is not the target of terrorists".

Haha! That's kinda funny. Nice to see you're up to speed with the IRA (that many Americans supported for years and years), or the several attempts that have been stopped already. Distance makes no real difference in the modern world.

You got hit really seriously once and suddenly, you're the only ones who can speak of terrorism, eh?

Nice to see you paying attention the rest of the world.

I want you to do some research. The U.S.S. Cole. Then do some research on "U.S. Embassy bombings". Then try and re-evaluate what "serious" means when people die. I agree, MiccyNarc's comment was dumb, but you turned around and said something dumb right back at him.

I knew about them, but the US never reacted by invading someone, nor did the public really go crazy with those attacks. I agree they were both bad, and I really don't like downplaying the murder of innocent people, but those attacks never prompted the kind of frenzy that went with 9/11.

bah, im not worried, the US institutions harbor weapons and vehicles far more advanced than any Nuke, im pretty certain that the US and other countries , Britain and Russia.. have been experimenting with something called a Gravitor. it has the potential to intercept targets in the blink of an eye, before anyone knows its coming, its gone.

some people think this is ridiculous, but to add credents to such a claim , first read this before anyone blout's off about impossibilities and conspiracey.

Well, a lot of people here believe that the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole should have been percieved as an act of war (which, let's face it, it was) and should have warranted a response, but Clinton didn't want to do it.

Sorry, what's your point? Im arguing for the fact that NK need to be back in talks with the U.S. and such, not trying to jump on the easy clitché 'Oh the US is evil and they're bad bad people'. Sure Bush is an idiot but this doesnt make all of the US gun hoe on Nukes does it. Not even Bush would use Nukes.

They want one on one, bilateral negotiation talks, which the US rejects.

They don't see the point in the 6 party talks as the name calling continues:

"Outpost of Tyrany" "Axis of Evil"

NK hasn't lately said anything bad of America lately (that I heard of) but has branded Bush an "imbicile" and "a tyrant who puts Hitler in the shade"

So there's some harsh words flying

every country is bad and no country should have nukes... but they do and theirs nothing to stop them...except more nukes. I think NK did the smart thing cuz i mean hell if their gunna be invaded for no reason anyways, might as well not go down w/o a fight :/

The scary thing is... you're absolutley right.

No it didn't, the Japanese didn't know about the nuclear weapons until after the war.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki did not save anyone.

Quite apart from that, most people in the world are generally bastards. Certainly most of the people who become politicians are bastards. Therefore all governments are pretty nasty. Ergo the US government, arguably the biggest, is also arguably the biggest bastard.

Wonderful. Two trigger-happy nuts with nukes. I somehow felt safer when only one had them.

Razor said:

They did in a sense. Before we dropped the bombs, we dropped pamphlets warning the people of those cities to evacuate and that the city would be completely destroyed. They laughed at it and ignored our warning. Of course, they had no idea
how the cities would be destroyed (they didn't know about nukes) but we still warned them....
Also, I recommend you read this article. Sure, Phyllis Schlafly is a fundamentalist uber-right wing borderline-phsyco conservative, but alot of what she says is right! (i've been boning up on my history  )
