Since my name is Chris also, I'll take that as if it applies to me as well.

I think people forget that this fansite isn't a democracy. This is a facist dictatorship, run by us sadistic bourgeois staff. You can make suggestions as to how we run the site but you have no bearing upon the operation of Halflife2.net outside of that influence. We're completely justified in every action we take and if you just can't deal with the fact that Chris_D locked the thread (which you ought to not take a stand against, given that it's pretty damn clear why that thread was locked) then you can leave.

All of us moderators are different; strict about different things. We can't please everyone - that's an impossibility - because for every thread we lock, some people applaud it and some people get up in arms about it. We try to do what we feel is best for the future of the site, nuture interesting, involved discussion, and keep the quality of our threads high.

Now, if you'd like me, personally (since I can't speak for the rest of the staff beyond basic principles) to crack down on Off-Topic spam, just say so. I try to be mostly easygoing in that respect because a little spam never hurt anyone - but a lot of spam DOES hurt the site. However, despite that it'll likely piss off a lot of people, I can go over to Off-Topic right now and close every damned thread that I feel like constitutes as spam - or at least, as more spam than relatively stimulating or even just acceptably non-idiotic content. That's half of the active threads, give or take.

Nobody ignored the underlinings of your post. Nobody saw it. You did not, in any way shape or form make what you wanted to say clear.

You said you were partially shocked at Chris_D in said thread when he locked it. You ain't talking about his post, you seem to be talking about his reasoning. Different moderators have different views on which/what threads should be locked. You could easily have been saying (and indeed what I thought you were saying) Chris_D is usually more leniant.

Again, not the 'moderator' Chris you remember. You said 'if he thinks that spams bad'. Your implying it's light compared to the other threads in off topic and that contain spam. That's more of a view on whether it should have been locked, rather than post content.
