Ok, basically, I was just wondering, exactly which magazines are going to have the HL2 preview? (In the US, please) just wanted to make sure tha I had the proper magazine...

Thats what I hear. PC Zone is supposed to come out and estimated 2 weeks before PC gamer so keep a heads up for that. Should be later this week btw.

what? we don't get pc zone i thought...? btw, anyone know if computer gaming world will have the preview? i used to love them, but their issues have gotten skinnier and skinnier and it's upsetting. heh i love their writing style though :p

edit: is there seriously a pczone in the us??

it looks like we only have to wait for 2 days and the first preview (pcz) shall be released so happy days, maybe the NDA people have been trapped under shall be dropped too so we can get a flood of useful info rather than just rub your face in it comments.

It may not be. I've never actually looked for an issue of it before.

Edit: Bah! You're right. UK only unless you're a US subscriber. Guess you'll just have to wait for scans and summarys until PC Gamer comes out. Although E3 will be about then and a mag isn't nearly as interesting at that point.

Vale have really managed to screw PC Gamer over on that front, or rather their deadline combined with Valve have.

Crap. I was all happy too :(. Well, only 15 days more until E3!!!!

YES!

If they havre a playble demo I'll come back to the forums with pics and impressions.

New scans coming in 3 days (PCgameplay Benelux)

I usually get my pc gamer around the 29th of every month so i'm expecting it real soon, it might be longer(stupid USPS).

there will not be a playable demo.

if there is one then ill eat my keyboard or Ban me or change my name to admiral f*ck tool.

There quite possibly will be a playable demo, but only for certain people. Unless brokenjago is a member of the elite press I doubt he'll get a go (if there is one). The main body will be new videos and info tho, no doubt.

It's been confirmed that there is no playable demo whatsoever.

excuse me? I want a crappy and shacky cam video. not some lame picture's

Well, send me a camera, and I might just get you some exclusive footage ;)

Who confirmed there is no playable demo? Valve's videos look impressive, but what they showed us last time was pretty much a big lie...they better not pull shit like that again.

That would be............ dissapionting.

Man, no offense Manny, but I'm gonna laugh when the AI's that good, the physics that good, etc.

umm... they are talking about Valve's booths at E3, not a demo for public release... and when it comes to E3, nothing's confirmed.

It was scripted to represent what they hoped the final product to be like. However it is un-nerving that they kept saying none of it was scripted when really all of it was.

I'm sure Gabe is capable of doing everything he's promised...I just don't understand why 12 guys in a basement in Serbia can do it in 1/4 the time (STALKER). And they don't lie about what they show.

...of course neither is out yet, and I admit I don't know who is making Stalker or if the company is based in Serbia....its probably not.

Well there you go! Ukraine is even more obscure when it comes to development. But not for long, the newest Computer Gaming World says that STALKER will easily be the most revolutionary FPS this year....but no one knows if it will be the best until it comes out.

I've been reading those Stalker Developer Diary's over at Gamespot and that game definately sounds intriguing. Not to mention it's drop dead gorgeous

from what i've seen of stalker... it doesn't look that amazing.. it seems to have all the weaknesses of those huge open ended games usually do. I'll wait for reviews, thanks.

Since when was this a STALKER thread?

Anyhoo, I dont even think taking a camera to e3 would work. If Valve really are protective of their game and engine (which they should be) then I dont think they're gonna let any Joe Bloggs come and record their presentations. Worth a try though.

Well, somebody slipped a video camera into the top-secret Unreal Engine 3 demonstration at GDC 2004. There aren't even official screenshots of that particular event, but there's a shakycam video floating around of the entire presentation. I think it would be surprisingly easy to film the event as long as you're scrupulous about where you stash your camera.

Yeah, I'm not saying it cant be done, it'll just have to be done on the sly. Trouble with that is you won't always get the best view.

The difference with the Unreal presentation and Valve's e3 show is large tho. Valve are almost at completion of a game and want everyone to see where as the Unreal engine was for certain eyes only. With that, we will actually get new official videos from Valve from e3 where as you'd get nothing from GDC 2004.

I was talking about E3, apparently Gamestar magazine asked Valve and they said there would be nothing playable.

how many days after e3 did we have to wait for gamespy to put up their videos? i dont remember waiting too long so i dont think we need to put a man on the inside with a video camera.
