I have a quick question, and this seemed to be the place to ask it.... ignoring that "Source" part. :)

Anyway, I was just wondering what the "fy" in the fy maps stands for. My friend thought it was the name of the clan that started the maps, but I don't know.

Its just that I have been making a "killbox" map (somewhat small area with weapons on the ground) and don't want to call it fy if it stands for something else.

Sorry if this is unrelated.

Badger, give me a chance, I think you may like my map. Then again I can't speak for you, but I can say that it is not a "killbox." Rather it is on the small side and weapons will be on the ground.

And slicktick, I know its a map type now, but I wanted to know what it stood for. You know how de is for defuse and cs is for... well, counterstrike I suppose. Hmm... what the hell does "as" stand for then? Heh.

Well, I know that de = defuse.

Google is your friend:

"fy_ maps: FY (said to stand for "**** you") maps are team deathmatch maps where the only objective is to kill the opponents. FY maps are usually very small and simple. The spawn points are often not in a buy zone, instead the weapons are laying on the ground, usually one of each type."

'as' maps are 'assassination' maps, by the way.

Well, thanks a lot, dude. Didn't think of using the mighty google for some reason. Heh.

So I guess I was right in saying cs is counterstrike... meaning the CTs are counter-attacking the T's who took hostages. Right?

Pretty much, yeah.

yes "cs_" maps were originally the only types of maps implemented, as seen in the beta. much like other mods "dod_avalanche dod_cain dod_whatever" - when Defusal type missions were added the cs team opted to distinguish them from the normal hostage type maps, so de stands for defusal while cs stands for counter-strike, being that the original game-type was hostage rescue. this is my understanding. i didnt join beta 1... i joined up in the cs craze in like... beta 3?

OooOoOh. Response from the experts. Thanks, guys.

So it will be named fy_coach.

And it'll be done by early next week, hopefully.
