One User = One Account

Why do many of you insist on creating extra accounts most of which are never even used :|

I'm going on a deleting spree today and any accounts found to be used by the same person will be deleted. In most cases I will delete both accounts. If you would like to admit to using two or more accounts and don't want your main account deleted then contact me now.

If you're having forum problems please give me a shout don't create a new account!

I believe that some forums (I know actually) induce a form of punishment where their account is closed. But they are allowed to open a new account... does this apply here?

no, if your banned and you make another account your banned on sight. It's always been that way.

I guess you take it off IP adress. So if a user had their IP changed, it wouldn't be known.

But what if a user does a "semi-bad" offense that's too big to give a warning, but not big enought to ban. Do you give them 1.5 warnings or something?

Not just the IP, we'd be silly to just go with the IP since so many use proxy's.

We log every IP every user ever uses. Plus if they use the same password I can match that. If someone breaks a small rule they get warned, a few warnings is a ban.

There is no middle ground. It's either a warning or a ban. However, the number of warnings is discretionary.

I signed up User Name after the orginal guy who used it gave it up since it was spammed with people who forget to type in their User Name and left the field as it was. I tried it as a joke to see if it would work. It did. I told somebody about it here, no notice was taken.

Delete that one if you must but please don't delete this one.

I dunno. I've only got MaxiKana. But munro, there might be SOMEONE from my school whose got an aco**** here, i'm not sure, but there could be. So I might have one simillar IP with another guy, but the one i'm now posting from, is my home one.

I had an account that my freind made here, but i think it got deleted. "gluestick" the name was. I also made an account as a competition, to see if people could guess who the "mystery user" was. Someone guessed it by the fact that i spelled "obvious" wrong... and one of the mods cheated by IP checking me It got closed anyway, as i didn't realise multiple accounts were banned. Shame as well, i spent an hour making a cool GIF avatar with a little question mark which flashes. It was about a year ago now... my, time goes quickly...

well i don't know all the reasons...but one of them might be that they forget the password to their original account.

give me a copy of your SQL file and I'll tell you how to do it.
However, USING THE IP SORT TO BEGIN WITH will ban people at large networks like schools. So, people might get banned for no reason.

Its been a really long time (definately created soon after I first signed up) so it may not exist anymore anyway, but I think I created an account with the name "Orion" way way back.

If your wondering why its because Orion was my other common internet name, also I was younger and and not so bright at the time.
