How can you get HL2 EP1 online? Since it has this beta friends list thingy? What is going on?

Its not wares, he is talking about Steams new friends feature, although I do not know enough about it to help you RX7GOD

Friends was there way before Episode 1, but never worked properly. It is supposed to display all your contacts who are on Steam, what they are playing, and which servers they are playing in (if they are playing a multiplayer game)

How do i get my game on steam so I can play online? When I installed it i didnt install steam

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't have thought they would let you 'not install Steam', as you can't play the game without it!

well...i can get steam seperately now...but...in the installation, it gives you the option...its in the custom area. But, once i get steam, how do i get it online?

You have a warez or a ****ed up cd. Because STEAM installs before ANY Valve game. Valve games DONT run without steam. So ya thats not possible, go buy the game..

Well, my CD does have several scratches in it and my HL2 is missing some texture files, so i had to get the update.

If it was illegal, it wouldnt allow me to get the update. I have figured it out now... I got steam and registered my Serial number...works perfectly.
