On June 17, 2010, during the E3 2010 show, the OnLive Game Service will be available for users in the 48 contiguous United States!

"The monthly service fee is currently $14.95, subject to change. ....does not include playing full versions of games, which are to be purchased or rented separately"

this is a bad move imho, they should have just added a service fee to the rental or purchase. make it an invisible fee so that customers dont think they're paying for nothing. or hell just make it more reasonable like a yearly subscription fee in the $50 range

they're missing out the bigger picture here. this should have been exclusively a rental scheme like netflix that gives you a limited time use depending on the subscription plan. who's going to want to pay $15 a month for what is essentially steam?

Included in your monthly service fee are OnLive-exclusive features such as instant-play free game demos; multiplayer across PC, Mac and TV platforms; massive spectating; viewing of Brag Clips™ video capture and posting; and cloud-saving of games you’ve purchased

If you end your subscription you lose access to any games you have bought on the service as well. Ridiculous.

so what would be the point of purchasing a game? if it's tied to the service then it's essentially a rental

Well it's not exactly steam. You can play on any PC or TV. No need to purchase a $1000 gaming PC. The fact that you can't play the games you bought if you cancel is ridiculous though.

You should be paying for the service of remotely playing games (that you have already purchased) on a system you don't own. That would be really non-absurd.

Wait this allows you to play high end games, through the internet, even though you have a shit computer??

If that's true then... cool!

this seemed like a pretty cool service, its a shame they ****ed it up with that plan though.

I am really questioning this business model. I mean, maybe there will be people willing to do this, but if you amass a collection and then stop the service...what happens? Is that it? Certainly sounds like it. Yeesh.

Maybe if you re-subscribe, you regain access to the games you bought.

Either way, this service is not targeted to any of us here, I would think.

By having a good connection.

Anything under 100mbps need not apply.

My 10$ say that when this is released and it turns out to be a flop the developers will blame piracy :D

"buhuu we make a good service then our marketing guys **** it up, piracy is to blame!"

Lack of proper Broadband speeds will be to blame. You buy an 8mb bband package and only get 2mb bband speeds, like I did. This is a huge complaint in the UK.

As its so heavily dependant on your net connection, it wont be a huge success. People drop connections all the time due to various reasons.

It will become more of an annoyance than something enjoyable. People get pissed off when their hardware crashes during a gaming session. Take away the hardware and rely on the not-always-perfect broadband connection and you've created the exact same problem in a different medium.

Pointless. Though interesting to see how it pans out.
