Say you go down to the store to buy the collectors edition u have had them lay aside for you. But when you ask for it they say "we dont have the CE yet cuz some idiots messed the tshirt part up or something, but we have the standard version if you want". What will you do? Buy the standard or wait 2 weeks till the CE comes??

Please only post answeres eighter in theory or what you have already thought about if u actually want the CE. AND NOT STUFF LIKE THIS:"I dont care Im getting it directly from steam etc."

Worth while info (Prices from EBgames.com):

Standard version: HL², Counter-Strike: Source, and a box eighter with Gordon, Alyx or the Gman as front picture. - $79.99

Collectors ed: HL², Counter-Strike: Source, the remastered original Half-Life: Source, a Half-Life 2 T-shirt and Prima book. Plus a cooler (metal?) box - $54.99

I would probably go with the standard. I mean, you first have to wait for the CE to come and when it's supposed to, it won't. 1 year is enough, 4 weeks extra is too much.

Though I'm getting the standard as there is no use getting HL:S as people are making the full overhaul wihch will be better than the ported version.

I purchased the Retail Collector's Edition, but I don't have to wait because I don't live where you live or anywhere near that. I live in the US of A and will be picking mine up on the 16th.
In your situation, I would say wait for the Collector's Edition. It is worth it.

Im not gonna say anything about me wanting the CE (Steam Silver blah blah), but i'm pretty sure you have those two prices mixed up...

I guess I'd wait... maybe. Meh.

Oops, yep too late to fix can an admin plz do it? :)

If I couldnt get my CE I would just go buy the gold package from steam. There would be no way in hell I would wait any longer for hl2. I am already dying for it to come out.

I think he meant WHAT IF that was the case; what you'd choose, regardless of where you live.

I would wait the 2 weeks.

But thats because i also have a steam pack.

while I wait the extra time I will play my gold edition..

but yeah even without the gold,I would wait for the CE...

gonna try to get one before they are all gone..

I live in Holland and have to wait 4 weeks till the ce appears. My first plan was to wait but I must say it's getting harder by the minute with all the news coming in. I really want to play this game. And I can't stand the fact that the game will be out there on the 16th and I can't play it yet. Is the book worth the wait, the t-shirt hell is hlsource even worth the wait. I don't care about a metal box. If that's the only reason I am not playing the game for another month I'd be insane. In other words: It's driving me, and my wife at the moment, mad.

I would buy the standard cant be hazzled, HL2+ css in the standard thats all I want.

Sorry to resurrect this topic but I had to share this. I got the sweetest deal at EB (of all places). While checking to see if HL2 was still $54.99, the clerk pointed out to me that the remaining Collector's Editions were on sale for $49.99 NEW! Needless to say I picked it up and am currently playing the heck out of it.

Love HL2, love CS:S, love the T-shirt, love the booklet, and I can't wait for DOD:S!

STFU STFU STFU omg I hate it when people resurect threads for no good reason...although I do respect that u appologized.

Yeah I didn't really want to, but I also didn't want to create a new topic just to boast. Again, sorry.:D

Wait a second, why did i vote on this old thread?

*slaps head*

I should check before posting...

i didn't no it was a old thread till now, and i just voted to, plz dont bump such old threads

HAHAHA Ahh man. Revives suck yet rock at the same time for the flack the reviver gets.

I wanted HL2 but nobody seemed to have it when I went for it (a couple weeks after release)...though they did havethe Collector's Edition with tee shirt etc. So I bought that. I didnt want to wait. :D

lol holy **** when I saw this thread on the list I thought: "What the? When did I make a new thread?"

I can see ur dilemma Ezmartini, why make a new thread about something that doesnt really matter, like why make a new thread about something that has already been discussed but you have new information of a question for it, it is in my opinion better to ressurect a thread usually.

I do not think it was worth it for me. I bought the CE at EBgames for $120.00. But I live in Canada and it was pretty new. Oh yeah and, it doesn't come in a tin box, just a big black box. At least mine wasn't tin...
