This is the time we can really hurt ebay and take the wind out of the their sail. striking this holiday season will cost them more then they wanted to bargain for.

Starting October 1st, and Ending it on Jan 1, lets do it again! I know it will be difficult to do so, being it is the most craziest time of the year for sales and ebay is still holding as the largest marketplace online, but there are other places out there (most of the large ones are on the forums here) and you can market to other places easily. ebay is NOT needed anymore and we can prove that to them this year.

spread the word, and lets hold down our position, not giving up or giving into ebays greed, their fee structure hikes, and show them that we just dont need them as much as they think we do.

so what do we have to do to not give into ebay? just dont buy and sell things on ebay at all.
dont use paypal, period. by doing these small changes, all of us, we can do a lot.

Why the hell would I not want ebay and want pay more? I love getting stuff cheap.

there are plenty of other marketplaces online to get stuff cheaper. ebays fee hikes on small sellers are only going to increase the bottom line price to you as a buyer.

The only 2 other places I've gotten things is Amazon and newegg. Everything else I find cheaper on ebay.

check out the marketplaces on www.strikebay.com forums list. there is others out there like webidz.com and u can find good shit on craigslist also. that site has alot of resources.

All I heard was 'whine whine whine'

i dont post much but i feel compelled to as this idea is such bullshit.

what have you got against a corporation a) making money for itself - the very reason a company starts, and b) people getting hold of unusual/hard to find/cheap or all of the above things in one convenient place?

you people and your anti-whateveritisthismonth crap. if you want to make a difference to the world go do some ****ing charity work.

edit: you cock

because their policies are hurting small business owners trying to sell on ebay. their fees on small business owners, for listing and end of auction are too high for them to make a profit. also, ebay is forcing sellers to only use paypal to accept money as far as online payments go, which they also tax them on, its like double dipping for them. in the end, the seller makes nothing, so he is forced to raise his price to you the buyer. and theres tons of other things going on that are hurting the seller community.

Go preach to the converted. We will not listen. We are blind and deaf to all that you say.

Nah, eBay's cool. None of the other places are big enough to have the diversity of product or customer service that eBay has. The situation you're talking about is only applicable with sellers who sell stuff for single digit dollar amounts anyways.

This is a bit silly, isn't it? Ebay is one of those web monopolies I really don't mind. They really could gouge a lot more. There are alternatives, I personally love SA Mart (if you're unfortunate enough to be a goon).

Then they shouldn't sell on ebay should they? To be making a small business solely on ebay is pretty sad and doesn't earn any pity from me if its not working out so hot :hmph:
Paypal is the most secure thing I've come across, I'm glad I don't have to use other less convenient/secure methods.

I always thought 'small business' meant making your own website or opening a small store in a downtown district of a city. Not selling on an auction site.

kinda have to go with this whole thing here

there is hundreds of people that start a small business on ebay just to get going. the problem is that ebay is making these deals with other marketplaces like buy.com, which can overpower the auctions with like real cheap books, selling them sometimes below the cost of a small business owner, which makes it hard for that business owner to sell online.

paypal is prolly the most secure thing youve come across because your not a store owner, you wouldnt know about real merchant accounts and other options out there for servicing customers.

No, since I'm not one or plan on being one why would I care? Merchant - customer transactions wouldn't involve something the customer doesn't use :|

I think you can safely say that your mission here has failed.

anyone who thinks they no longer make enough of a profit selling through ebay has the choice to sell somewhere else, whether it be a competitor or car-boot sale. if somebody who owns a store cant make enough profit due to competition then thats just the way the cookie crumbles, deal with it.

you're moaning about a company making more money because you then couldnt yourself, but im sure you would be happy to make more money at ebays expense.

you have no more right to make a profit increase than ebay does, so quit moaning and take it somewhere else.

Got it in one. We're not store owners. We don't care.

So what if im a seller? eBay rocks.

I just made 105 GBP selling 42 emails to one guy. eBay is awesome.
