If Half-Life is getting a makeover, why not Opposing Force and Blue-Shift as well?

they don't own the right, gearbox does.

BladeTurbo is correct, VALVe has no right to reproduce the content of those expansion packs, and I highly doubt Gearbox will want to let them redo it for a low price, Gearbox is going to charge a bundle if VALVe comes to Gearbox, and vice-versa if Gearbox comes to VALVe.

I'm sure Gearbox would agree to let Valve sell Opposing Force: Source over Steam as long as they got substantial royalties. Valve already sells the original over Steam normally, even giving it away for free if you own any other Steam product.

I doubt Gearbox would ask for $$$ for a conversion - OppoF is an old game now, there's little value in the IP for the future, and Valve own the distribution mechanism so the only way it'd ever get done is via them. In other words, letting Valve do it would be a percentage cut of something, which is better than nothing at all. I suspect it's just that somebody has to pay for the conversion (programmer/etc time), and why not use that time on CS/HL2 instead? Big costs with little benefit.

I just beat Blue Shift...That was too short...I don't think it's worth the time and effort...

I didn't ask about who owns the rights(I don't give a shit)...Just why it shouldn't be done.
:)

i heard hl source will use blue shift's higher quality weapons to replace hl1's original models/skins.

How short is it exactly?

We told you why shouldn't it be done, they're too short to go through so much of a hassle.

I don't think gearbox owns the two exclusively, Valve most likely still owns the rights to the games, but I'm assuming gearbox gets a portion of the profits still as well.

Oh and opposing forces rocked, I loved that game. Blueshift was ho-hum.

I'm fairly certain that OP4:S and BS:S have been confirmed in the info from valve thread.
