Hello, I'm Hot564231, Mod Founder and Co-Leader for the Opposing Shephard team. I post this news today to invite you to help with this innovative Half Life 2 modification, Opposing Shephard.

For those of you that may or may not know, Opposing Shephard is an unofficial sequel to Gearbox's expansion pack for Game of the Year Half Life, Opposing Force. Gearbox's expansion had you take on the role of Adrian Shephard, a soldier sent in to eliminate Gordon Freeman, you are separated from your base unit and discover a new alien race amidst the chaos. It's quickly revealed that these highly advanced alien life forms descended upon Earth to pillage the planet from the Black Mesa facility when Gordon Freeman transported to the border world of Xen. Opposing Shephard will continue where you left off, being woken up by the G-man from his stasis. Along the way, you'll meet old friends like Otis, the Boot camp Instructor, and many more. Hopefully, you'll see our rendition of the Race X home world. For more information, please refer to our forums.
We are currently looking for talented individuals to fulfil these positions:

Positions Currently Vacant
• Mappers/Level Artisits(3)
Now recruiting level mappers. Position tasks include:

* City 43 - City 43 is one of the many places on Earth which is controlled by the Combine. (4+ maps)

* Waste Land - The waste land of City 43. (2+ maps)

* Sewers – (Knee deep in the bowls of the combine occupation. 2+ maps)
• 3D Modellers (4)
Now recruiting 3D modelling artists. Position tasks include: prop models (static and animated), character models (including IK & bones) and weapon models (working parts for animating).
• Animators (2)
Now recruiting animators. Position tasks include:

Characters (NPC's) animated props (for environments), vehicles and weapons.
• Texture Artists (2-4)
Now recruiting 2-4 texture artists. Position tasks include:

* Map Textures – Enviroment maps. Heavily based outdoor textures along with a few city textures, including Euro style signage etc.

* Object Textures – UV mapping items and objects for weapons, props, characters, organic materials (trees, grass etc.) giving the mod a unique and distinct feel and look.

The landscapes planned for the Opposing Shephard mod range from wastelands to city scapes to the depths of some of the most inhospitable sewer systems known in the HL2 universe.

These are only three lands which you will adventure on, there are many more.
Thank you for reading this far, you have just unknowingly passed the first test to be eligible in joining the rapidly growing talent pool of the Fugitive Studios OS Mod Team. lol. If you would like further information about the OS HL2 modification, you can browse our website here: http://opposingshephard.modsite.org/ and don't forget to come by to the forum and let us know you are interested: http://s12.invisionfree.com/OpposingShephard/index.php?&Itemid=26

Haha.

Btw, didnt you just do a post for it below? (And another b4 that...)????

I still stand firm in saying City 43 is a ridiculous number. The human race is near extinction, 43 cities kinda goes out of its way to contradict this.

A little under 35. Its clear most of the planet is nothing but a wasteland for the Xen aliens, and whatever else was thrown in during the portal storms.

I tried to join but they treated me pretty strangely and now I'm not so sure any more.

Don't think throwing former Opposing force characters in will aid in the story, I mean, why bother with Otis? The boot camp instructor? Why? What’s the point other than for nostalgias sake? Many more? Who else to see?

What I also find bizarre is the inclusion of the Race X home world. I hope the story explains why we are going there, other than the fact that you know, Shepard fought them before.

It'd be somewhat more unique did you ditch Race X and whatever pointless cameo's you fancy throwing in. It would just be a Opposing force retread.

My thoughts anyway.

Yeah, the Race X homeworld thing didn't work out too good, so it's been scrapped from my story outlines.

Otis is in there for nostalgias sake, but Instructor Barnes plays a small role slightly crucial to the story.

And as to the city number thing, I'm attempting to work that into my outlines (the outlines go on to THRRRPT, who makes additions, alterations, and deletions to them and from there makes a final script). So bear with me on that.

I wouldn't worry about Otis, it doesn't look like he'll be anything like the original. I mean I understand people change over time, but I really wouldn't be able to tell that was Otis, and unless you somehow get the original voice actor I doubt other people will in-game.

Unless you make him say something like "Hi, I'm Otis, remember me from Blue Shift?"

And are those models ripped from the beta?

Yeah, its quite unbelievable any mod team would dare release such a screenshot

most of those maps are just rooms with props in them. also why dont you have any models ingame yet.

BTW, you guys typo'd your tagline on the site banner:

"OPRESSION HAS AN OLD ENEMY, AND HE'S BACK!"

Oppression has two P's. :O

On a related note, the tagline makes no sense.
Since when did Shephard fight oppression in Opposing Force?

No kidding, he was the one doing the oppressing.

I'm... amused.

because before you tried to join all you had ever done was bash the mod. Then, when you DID try to join, you claimed you were some guy from another mod, and using his work, or something like that. I don't rememebr exactly. From our viewpoint all you were doing was trying to make it look like we were stealing stuff.

they lost their lead coder because. get this. he was on holiday. wuahahahahaha!

D:

I'm pretty much speechless at the surreal nature of this thread.

See, now there's a lie if ever there was one.

I presented constructive criticisms such as "your banner is mispelt again, please don't steal IP from Tom Clancy and your media releases are doing more harm than good."

All work presented was my own, so accusing me of plagarism is a stupid, stupid thing to do unless you have proof of such a thing.
(Which, of course, you don't.)

I simply asked to join and your team accused me of plagarism, accused me of breaking the forum rules, modified my account on the Opposing Shephard forums, insulted friends of mine who recommended me and then asked me to draw a "marine rebel" that is half marine and half rebel or something, subjecting me to insipid "leet-speek" all the while.

So get your facts straight, Jimmy.
You're lucky I didn't seek recompense for emotional damages inflicted by your Fugitive Studios. :p

Yes, I know it was yours. I even bothered to point that out on the first page of your thread.

insulted friends of mine who recommended me

You mean egoncalo? The only person who did that was drfateboy, who isn't on the mod team at all.

and then asked me to draw a "marine rebel" that is half marine and half rebel or something,

And what's wrong with that? Why couldn't have an HECU soldier (or any other member of the army/navy/air force/etc.) joined in a/the resistance against the Combine? Since you said you needed something to draw, I gave you something; then you disappeared. Maybe I assumed the wrong thing when you said "custom topic" (and I'm pretty sure I did).

subjecting me to insipid "leet-speek" all the while.

Hmmm... That was only General and Holly. I don't know if you've taken the time to actually talk with them at any time (I can't think of any reason why you would anyway, but that's beside the point), you will learn that they're both, for lack of a word(s) that isn't blunt, slightly strange and unpredictable (no offense to them though).

I think this mod name is the single-most terrible mod name I have ever heard.

Worse than Snipa Warz.

Really. It's awful.

Are you saying that I was accusing you..? Because I was jsut regurgitating what I rememeberd from that one thread in our forums a while ago. I wasn't trying to... anyway, you are a very confusing person. In nearly every post (that I saw) that you had made in OS threads, they were all either sarcastic ro saying how stupid the mod was, and ususally right afterwards, asking to be a concept artist :S So I imagine that aroused some suspicions, though I think you just wanted to make the mod better. maybe.

by the way, do you have any examples of your work? I couldn't find any, and I'm interested.

And wtf kind of a name is 'Harold the Talking Snowmobile'...

Sounds suitable for some public broadcasting program for children :|

oops5rn.gif

If it will convince you that I am not a plagarist, then fine Mr. Tom-Clancy-Stealers. :p

Again: please recognize constructive criticisms!

Note to Opposing Shephard: Don't steal me!
hmmph :| :)

"...your osprey looks like it has elephantitus" is hardly constructive criticism in my book.

and yes, I actually have a book.

You're missing the question mark at the end of that quote, as well as the context.

That was a theoretical smartass remark that someone else might have said.

Your helicopter thing is about as aerodynamic as a brick though. :O

oh. It was from memory, which for me is about as reliable as something very unreliable.

I wonder who designed that chopper, anywho...?

For god's sake, someone AGREE with me. :|

Why?

I think most people already have an opinion on Opposing Shephard, and it's likely they'll have voiced it in one of their 3750574 other threads.
