For all XBox 360 players who have major lag issues in TF2, Today Valve released a major update for The Orange Box to fix the lag issues in the 360 version. This second update for the Box primarily includes enhancements for Team Fortress 2.[br]
Here's a list of what's included:
  • Reduced network bandwidth usage in multiplayer.
  • Improved overall game performance.
  • Arranged search results to favor preferred host conditions.
  • Improved searching for ranked games.
  • Addressed a possible false report of too little storage space on larger hard drives.

I really need to get a wireless dingy for my 360 so I can update my games.

I was playing TF2 on 360 the other day and had no lag at all, had a brilliant game :D

Still, I guess any improvements are good improvements.

I think the majority of the lag people experience in TF2 is due to the host not having the greatest connection.

Yeah, I come across games that are fine and games that are laggy all the time. As I said in another thread, there's always going to be shitty connection games. That said, though, I got the update then went into a really laggy game which was one of the worst I've come across thus far. How does one do an update that solves a lag problem? Isn't it too hard an area to simply define as 'broke' or 'fixable', due to such things like where you are in the world and what server you're playing on and things like the host of the game?

As far as I know, in BF2 for the 360, if you were from Europe playing on a West/East Coast US server you would pretty much lose any game due to the American players having a latency advantage. Not sure how servers work aside from that so this is more rambling then anyway. I'm just curious.

Update seems to have done nothing...I still have the same luck of finding a stable game (about 1 out of 20) than I did before. It's hard to believe that this just happens to be a case of so many hosts having bad connections, when Halo 3 seems to manage just fine with 16 players. I've had more fun with TF2 in the little time I've had to play, but I'd return this game if it were possible.
