YouGamers has an article up with the Minimum Specs for the Orange Box as well as an analysis tool here which will tell you whether your system will run the Orange Box. The Minimum Specs are as follows.[br]
1.7 GHz Pentium 4
512 MB system RAM
DirectX 8 compatible video card
[br]There is also a tidbit regarding Valve's plans for the future following the release of the Orange Box.[br]
Gabe also shed some light on future Half-Life 2 episodes. While the release date for HL2: Episode 3 isn't set, Valve is working on it for subsequent release after The Orange Box comes out. After Episode 3, however, they will have a break, sit back and look at where the series is going. Does this mean we'll see a climactic ending of the story arc at the end of Episode 3?
[br]So head here for all the details!

Awesome. The system specs required to make HL2 look beautiful have always amazed me.

...and news on another Episode. :D I don't think #3 will be the last.

More specs, same as HL2 just no DX7 support:
Minimum System
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 1700 MHz
Display Card: DirectX 8 compatible graphics card
Memory: 512MB
Free Disk Space: 5GB
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista

Recommended System
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3000 MHz
Display Card: DirectX 9 compatible graphics card
Memory: 1024MB
Free Disk Space: 5GB
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista

Yeh... that was pretty mental. When that thing happened with the cinematic physics... wooooow.

Also, is it my imagination, or on that menu screen near the end, was one of the options in the list "Achievements"?

What specs do you need to run the game at it's highest, so that it looks as in the video's? TF2 looks especially demanding.

Any onfo on that, or on what kind of machines the demo's were shown?

Aww. I don't meet the reccomended requirements. :( Damn you X600!

Okay 360 version for me then.

How does the x600 not meet the recommended? I had a x700 only one step up and I could run Ep1 full. The x600 is a DX9 Graphics card.

That's what I always thought. I tried the requirements test thing on the linked website and it said the X600 doesn't meet the recommended. o_O

lol, my PC just barely meets the Recommended specs. Although I have the feeling that they didn't have Geforce 6200 in mind when they say "DX9 compatible graphics card". I hope they have an option to turn the shadows off, because this POS probably won't handle them.

Hmm I noticed something odd when I tried the test again

Your display card fails the following requirements:
• 256MB memory, you have 128MB

That is stupid because the X600 does have 256MB memory. I even used dxdiag to be sure :|

So whatever is up with that is beyond me but I'll now still try to get it on PC again I suppose. (bless valve for creating great games without forcing people to get expensive rigs to play them like every other developer *coughcrytekcough*)

While the release date for HL2: Episode 3 isn't set, Valve is working on it for subsequent release after The Orange Box comes out.
So wait. You mean Ep3 isn't coming out before the Orange Box?! Dammit. :p

Though it sounds like they might push to do Ep3 a little quicker than the previous episodes. Maybe they have their system worked out now and can start flying.

Episode 2 won't have Dx7 support he is saying, Valve has said they have dropped support for dx7.
No, he was saying that HL2 didn't support DX7, which was incorrect.

I know Episode 2 won't support DX7, and I don't care. I bought a new computer last year so I'm safe :)

Glad they are still supporting lower specs so most people can play.

He said EP2 has the same requirements as HL2 except that the requirements for EP2 leave out the DX7 support which HL2 has. You just mis-read what game he was talking about with 'just no DX7 support'.

If he thought HL2 didn't have DX7 support then there would be no difference for GPU requirements to EP2 and no reason to mention DX7. Doesn't make sense to read his comment that way.

You're right, I read the comment like this "More specs, same as HL2, no DX7 support:"

good god, dont tell me you still have that mx card, you should destroy it if you do..

Those requirements are different on the store. o_O

Oh forget it to be sure I'm just going to get it on 360.

I kind of do. It's in the old computer downstairs. I bought a new one last year, and it has a GeForce 7900GT. A slight performance increase :p

Mine is about 5 bars over minimum, hope that's alright.

Buying a new PC in about two weeks so I should be alright... maybe... :p
