I wonder if you'll be able to order the game on CD/DVD directly from Valve.. I sure hope so. I live in the Netherlands so I'm kind of worried that the stores here won't carry a Collectors Edition (or at least not immediately).

Now, my idea was that if you could order the CE directly from valve through steam, you could already play the preloaded version (they give you a key) and send the discs later. That way you're insured that you get the CE, AND you will be able to play immediately.

I doubt it will happen though, but I would certainly appreciate it :)

Thats how i would hope to buy it too, it means i definately get the version i want (collectors) and am able to play it on the exact minute its released.

The only way to play it the exact minute it's released is to pay for a Steam stream.

So.. would this method cost more than buying from a store or the same? Surely the creation of the CE pack doesn't cost the 80$ so it could be of the same price.

Valve doesn't have a cd production plant, so you will not be able to buy physical media from them. (This is kinda the point of steam.)

You know... that really isn't a bad idea. Hmm....

How many Collector's Edition's do they usually sell? Like per non-ce/ce.

If they really want to they can figure something out I guess... so let's make them really want to!

I would be willing to pay 5-10$ extra if I could buy it this way!
;) ;)

Yes, but maybe they can cooperate with vivendi?

Uhhh... the cooperation is that Vivendi sends the game to various distributors. The way it's always been done. Then Vivendi gives them some of the profit.
