From seeing the footage of Diablo III, it's clear this game is the b'ness. I don't really wanna jump head-first into the series, so is it still worth tracking down the originals? As I've never played any of the series before, I feel without any nostalgia to draw me in they may seem horribly dated. The worst thing is playing a game with a voice in the back of your head saying "Are you really enjoying this?", so is it better just to wait for III?

Diablo 2.
Diablo 1 is kind of boring, although I think it comes free with 2.
And yes. It's worth it.

Also, enough ****ing D2 threads. There are enough.

You can basically get the Diablo Battle Chest which I got a few years ago due to nostalgia, although I found I couldn't enjoy Diablo I much anymore even with all the pleasant memories.
On the other hand, Diablo II LOD is still an extremely enjoyable and addictive game in my opinion and you should have no problem getting into it, MP or SP.

Diablo I is more hard than Diablo II (I re-seeded the labyrinth 3 times) and its speedrun takes 6 minutes (SDA).But it's cool.
Diablo II is just awesome and not so hard to play.
Diablo I isn't made for internet play. The rest or your party can rush through first 2 levels and your 1st level character will have to enter the third level without any chance to win.Oh yes,it's very entertaining to run from the Butcher they left for you.

Anyone want to play Diablo 2 right now? I feel like playing!

As for thread - Buy the battlechest, you get D1 and D2 + D2expansion. Diablo 1 was good for it's release but now it's just 'eh'. Diablo 2 on the other hand is a fantastic game to play online, so much fun to just go our and level up and quest with other people of the same level.

I've actually noticed people are alot nicer then they used to be, still lots of douches, though.

Actually, I got a free 14 day trial of World of Warcraft with my battlechest so I figured 'eh, why not, I'll try it', since it's a blizzard game and since I used to play Diablo 2 so much, I figured everyone would be the same, all douchebags, but in WoW everyone is ALOT nicer, I only met like 1 asshat, but I've only played for like 10 hours max, so I guess it's just Diablo. Although now-a-days you don't have to look far in Diablo 2 for nice people. If I'm in a game for a while, like finishing all quests in an act and getting all waypoints, people are usually willing to help me alot. That's on normal though, on normal people are relatively nice, on Nightmare and Hell it's all 'I'M MORE POWERFUL LOLOL!' because you got the 'super powerful' high level 'i don't have a life' kind of people who play for 18 hours a day. On normal it's mostly just casual gamers.

I don't play online with randoms. I'll only get on and play with people I know....or by myself for a bit.

Hey, want to play right now? I really feel like playing!

Everyone from HL2.net add me - Username is Dog-Dash, I usually play with an Ice Sorc called Bajajaja (creative, I know)

I have it it's just not installed

Thread-wise
D1 sucked because it was to slow and monsters on the first level can kill you in just a few shots
D2 is great SP but MP rocks out
Possibly one of the best MMO's created(In that time at least)
Now it's the best classic out there
And Ace it's a hacked game

Meh, I tried getting into D2, its just not my kind of game. That kind of gameplay is just too simple for it to entertain me for very long.

It gets really complicated once you have 10 abilities, and only 1 or 2 can be used at once.

How dare they make a challenging game, that's even worse then a game that actually makes you die when you are "killed".

Diablo 1 was the shit. No other Diablo game matched the pants-shitting experience that was the Butcher. I used to play it with my friends all the time.

Sure, the multiplayer wasn't ideal, but it was obviously popular enough that Blizzard realized they had to bank on it for the sequel. The hacking could get annoying, like spawning in Tristram and getting one-shotted by some flame elemental. But by and large I found most people to be cooperative.

Also, I still chuckle at the at the memory of loading up a trainer and going down to Hell to kill Diablo in one hit.

Good ol' bobafette :)

I know where people are coming from when complaining about D1. Though, saying it sucks is wrong. Sure, the game is VERY slow by today's standards. Also very challenging. The biggest thing that stops me from playing it again is the slowness, as I get bored fast since I've played the shit out of the game since it was released.

I played Diablo 1. Never liked Diablo 2. I played it at a friends house. I thought it was enoying with all the people running around in multiplayer.

Bumping this because I'm wondering if anyone plays D2: LOD right now. I'm a level 23 Paladin on Act 3, and it would be nice to play with some other people!

Played both games to death for years. You know you're done with Diablo 2 when your character is capable of walking through Hell difficulty and killing everything just by walking around them for a few seconds. Paladins are the kings of brokenness.

Diablo is one of the all time classic groundbreaking single player games ever. Great music, atmosphere, challenge and fun. The graphics at the time were brilliant, and the game had the best intro movie and cutscenes around.

Diablo 2 was and still is one of the most enjoyable multiplayer experiences around. I had solid months of fun with it back in the day. Although it fell prey to cheats pretty quickly, there were a few honest players who would help out a noob - I will never forget the stranger I co-op'd with one night who gave me a Hellslayer Decapitator for nothing, he was Dutch and his name was reja_2701.

I played Diablo 1 singleplayer a couple of times recently and if any one is still wondering if it's worth trying I would say, "yes."

I'm going to avoid Diablo 2 until the 1.13 patch comes out and the ladder resets.

I'm playing D2 online again and on LAN with a friend. If anyone's interested in playing online, I'm down.

1st Diablo game is a bit slow, but I still think it's fun. Besides, you'll miss out on the story if you start off in the middle of the game.

I'm playing Diablo II now, I reinstalled it monday. I used to play it non-stop until I got banned, and then I gave it up for a few years and now I'm bored again and getting back into it.

Oh man, I know what you mean, I started it back up like last month, and I just couldn't get over how slow your guy moves.. Then I died after I got to the caves and I never saved it so I just quit, not worth it.

It used to be waaaaaay too fun though.

What bothers me with the slowness is in TOWN YOU WALK THE SAME FREAKING SPEED. Bah, drove me crazy when I came out of the Caves by Wirt, and have to walk to Pipen for healing, then to Natasha or wtf ever her name was with the mana potions and get those, then ALL the way back to the caves entrance.

HellFire resolved that with a character than walked like 2 or 3 times as fast in town *same model, made it look lol.*....
