Original Half-Life

Since I installed the new Steam Client, every time I try tu run the original Half-Life (or any 3rd party mod that requires the original Half-Life), I'm asked to install 420mb of stuff I already have, at which point steam freezes (after agreeing to install the said software).

Should I re-install HL? or Steam? or both?

Happened to me too.
It just wanna download the 1.1.2.0 HL.

After about an hour I could play everything..

By he way, Steam doesn't freeze, it just downloads Half-Life. I thought it froze because the ''Task manager'' said ''not responding''... and stuff... anyway thanks guys.

After you click on the accept button to install, don't touch anything!!. Don't bring up a webpage or minimize it, just let steam sit there for about 5min, if a screen hasn't come up by then I'm not sure what to do.

That was happening to me for awhile, I was just too impatient and quickly alt-ctrl-dlt, but after I left it sit for a few minutes the download screen appeared.

Well, the download screen didn't appear, but Steam did ''melt'' (unfreeze), and the HL logo lit up.

Now, I can't get past the ''Preparing...'' part, but it's said to be a bandwidth problem, so I'll wait a few days.

BTW cordless, when it freezes like you say, does the "install" button get stuck pressed down? Thats what's happening for me.

It more or less disappear with the rest of Steam...

First, a dialogue box apears (Half-Lire requires a 420mb installation, will you continue? Yes or No), and when I press Yes, the box disappears, steam doesn't move. I can't click anthing on it, if I open anything (IE for exemple), Steam ''uses'' it as a background (really hard to describe...)

After 20 minutes, Steam gets back to normal, the HL icon becomes colored, but it will now freeze (for more than 2 hours) on ''Preparing to launch half-Life''.

I guess We just need some patience. Right now I'm downloading the original half life content. Let's face the game was great and it would be neat to play the game again before HALF life 2 comes out. Just be patient! I know I've been trying to get this thing to run for days.

I hope they release a better version soon. It feels like they released version 0.0.0.1 instead of 1.0
