What do you guys think about Quija boards? Today was the first time I have ever used one, played with about 4 friends kind of randomly after school.

I've always been told by my mom that I shouldn't ever play it, saying things like it's "scary" or "evil." Today was just a freaky feeling when playing with it. For instance today we told one person to put up fingers behind themselves as a number, and they'd walk at least 8-10 feet away with their eyes closed. We'd ask the "spirit" what number are they holding, the board slowly glided to the number "3". We looked at our friend and asked, and she gave us the number "3" as well.

Second example, we tried the same exact thing, but with a different person. We asked the same question and it glided to the number "4." We looked back at our friend and asked, she had the number "1" held up. So we thought it was just a coincidence last time, but then when she found out that the board hit the number "4" she had told us that in her mind she was thinking the number "4" while holding the number "1" up. Just a little freaky to me.

This was a first for me, and I'd probably try it again, just trying to get opinions from you guys. What do you think?

My art teacher from a couple years ago told us a story about weegee boards- He was a teenager, with his buddies, when they found a weegee one day. They decided to go screw aroudn with it- went into the middle of a big field, like around midnight. They had a candle or something to see, make a spooky atmosphere or something. None of them really believed it, so they were like, ok, give us a sign that this is real. Suddenly, the candle flame shot ten feet in the air, a huge flame for like, thirty seconds. They all ran away and left the weegee board there, in the middle of the field.

That's because the spirits try to avoid you, and your stupid little abbreviations.

Some really bad shit can happen using a ouija board. Really, if you value your saftey, you should avoid using them in any serious or playfull manner.

My dad and his friend had a really bad experience with a Ouija board.

They were using it I guess... and at one point they saw a dancing skeleton in the corner of the room.

My dad is not a liar at all... and they weren't doing drugs, just a couple beers. This was before I was born I believe, or when I was a baby.

Dunno what he saw... but I do know he wasn't lying or fabricating anything. He's not the sort.

How so? I mean I've been told that it's "evil" and all, but I just can't see why. Everyone thinks "oh its just a boardgame made by an ordinary gameboard company." But I don't know what to think, today was just a first peak at using the board.

What harm could it bring?

Being a logical person I have to say it's BS.

But the stories are interesting enough.

I pity the people who believe it's real or believe people's stories about them.

I pity you people who have no sense of imagination or fun in this world.

My mum and her sister had bad experiences with them when they were younger. Stuff like appiritions and ice blocking escape routes.
My mum's not one to lie about anything like it, and she's really spiritual and stuff.

If you don't think people can have fun, fulfilling lives without superstition, I'm the one who pities you.

Never use a Ouija board. Ever, ever. Bad, naughty evil. Bad. Don't.

If you don't see that fun is everywhere, including superstition, then I'm the one who pities the one who is pitying me.

*Waits for Mr. T to come in and pity the fool*

Im really confused about Ouija boards. I'm usually very rational and sceptical, so when some of my friends convinced me to try one this summer, I thought it would just be a bit of a laugh, and if anything did happen, it would be easily explained.

Suffice to say - something did happen, and I couldnt explain it. I really dont know what to think.

You had any experiences with it?

Yes. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say that the culmination of several weeks of ouija boards led to me refusing to sleep in my own house.

Same here, we did it at a friend's house and she didnt sleep in her own bed for weeks.

Done one once, and it caused a friend to leave the room in absolute floods of tears. She wouldn't tell us what exactly had happened.

Not exactly in a rush to try them again mind.

Lol boards are only evil if you want them to be evil, you make it what it is. Personally I would not scew with rolf boards, mediums or anything connected to an occult.

Rape rape rape rape rape rape rape rape rape rape rape rape

I wonder how they work?

(I wonder how many have wondered how they work, done some tests, and then refused to sleep in their own houses for a while afterwards?)

It all started out as a laugh - a bit silly, fairly amusing. Then it got a lot darker and nastier. Then it got really bad. Seriously, don't do it.

It's funny how you have all these stories/claims, yet some people still call bs, hoax, fake, and so on.

yeah i think there might be alot of risks related to them, probably related to what state of mind you have when you do it. i don't doubt it's genuine.

Shit, after reading this thread I'm tempted to go out and buy one. :D

"Stories/claims" are not evidence. And that's why people call BS.

No one said it is. Now did they? :p

I was making an observation.

It's all in your head. That's not to say what's in your head isnt capable of some freaky sh!t though. Telepathy, telekinesis, it's all in there.

The "yet" ascribes weight to the stories/claims. :) "Some people still..." implies that the stories/claims should be viewed as reason to believe the supernatural element of Ouija.

I'm not saying that Ouija experiences can't turn nasty. But that's where herd mentality, ideometer effect, and so forth comes into play. Ockham's razor, y'know.

Ah, those things?

I remember that we had a acetone lamp on it once, and accidentlyknocked it over, setting it on fire.

Or maybe I was just making an observation? :O Oh wait it's me that said it so I would know what I said.

What about people who think they can't have fun unless they're on some kind of drug?

I'd just like to point out the same people that say what you do about Ouija boards buy every bad story/claim that comes out of Iraq, hook, line, and sinker.

Carry on.
