Over half of british people have no religion

This is probably based on church attendance, but there are many people who believe in God but don't go to church.

It's probably based on unbiased sampling across the country. l2statistics

Good for them.

Personally I don't have anything against a little spirituality. I mean, the question about the existence of God is an interesting one, but that question must be sought and answered personally, and not through the main religions. I hope to believe in an afterlife; that I will meet my loved ones after I die and that I will have eternal life. But how could I know? I'm not gonna base my life on what might happen after I die. I'm gonna life my life now and have a blast doing it, and if I still exist after I die, sweet as, bro, but I wouldn't count on it.

I know plenty of non religious people including my two sisters who simply answered 'C of E' to the answer of religion under the last census simply because they were christened under the church. Christening under the Church of England still seems highly popular here even amongst the non religious so I'm wondering if that fact may have skewed the census figures on peoples religious nature at all?

I myself answered Jedi Knight for a laugh :) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1589133.stm

On a more serious note I'm hoping that within my lifetime I will live to see this country become legally secular nation with the church of England as a self funded entity instead of a state funded religion that my taxes help support.

I don't believe Scientology is on the census, however.

This is what I really hate. Why the shit should I pay because someone else relies on a magical sky daddy rather than themselves and they're families/friends?
