:| :| :| :|

hopefully theyre are some keyframe animations being implemented because getting shot.. (I mean look at the wound ffs) and him just standing there still pointing his gun at you is kinda hokey (whatch the videos and witness yourself the combine dont seem to mind being shot up.. until they die)

Maybe combine dont feel pain?

You're making conclusions about animation from a screenshot? :|

no, im making conclusions based on the binks, both e3 presentations, screenshots and news from valve but thanks for assuming I was just being ignorant :x

It's a game. Join the services.

Sweet, another post about gunshot flinch animations. That's just great.

So was SOF I, SOFII, Jedi-Knight: JO, and Jedi-Knight JA.. and even goldeneye on the nintendo 64.. all have bullet impact animations. I'm just worried about it effecting the immersion factor that valve games are so famous for.

You're right. I just watched a part of E32004, they don't flinch at all when they're shot, they just move out of the way. hm...

It just seems behind the rest of the game in terms of technology and immersion, no need to flame me.

maybe just maybe... it might just maybe be becuase they might just have been using the unfinished engine?

as hard as that is to belive.....

In the e32k4 videos? Possible, I do hope your right Dougy. According to Doug Lombardi and others Source has been complete for quite some time. If i'm not mistaken during e32k4 presstime they had just completed the game and begun work on playtesting/tweaking and bug smashing.

Hit animations aren't part of the engine.

My hope is, since source is an ongoing project, that even if it dosent make the gold build it will be updated into future source games and Half-Life 2. And hes right, it's not the engine, it's the game... in other words im sure the engine supports this.. but im not sure they had time to incorporate this into Half-Life 2.

In the "Info From Valve" thread, several pages back, either Gabe or Rick stated that Valve was aware of the issue. This would seem to imply it's been mitigated.

That would be nice :D hopefully they did that stuff after feedback from the e32k4 media :)

no hit animations = 007 nightfire, which sucked balls! ;)

Not had time? :hmph:
They had the past year to do it, but I doubt my experience would any better if does have hit animations or not.

You can even see flinch animations in the traptown vid, for some reason they appear to have been removed in the E3 2k4 trailers, but apparently they are using them.

I know it's not probable, but I've seen videos of people getting shot and not knowing it.

This topic has been done to death. Use the search feature please.

And "you are" abbreviated is you're NOT your. That really annoys me.

Why doesn't someone not just ask Merc^, or another person, who's played HL2?

Unfortunately, Merc didn't notice this, as he was too busy enjoying HL2. Which means, this feature makes little to no difference to the experience, even if it wasn't there. The other visitees (heh) didn't get to playtest HL2 (just visit around and got to playtest cs:s) and that half-life 84 dude from PHL seems to be dead, also that willdo guy - but they both playtested the first level in the station where you have no weapons.

BTW - they won't be in the game, prolly be added later on in a patch.

Didn't they say they were going to deal with this before release? I am sure I remember telling everyone that, but it looks like we've ran out of stuff to talk about at hl2.net ^^

the longer hl2 takes the less appealing it iwll start to look
the tech will start to look "done that, been there" type of thing, and with newer games already pushing a higher envelope such as Stalker (which is delayed to jan-march) and F.E.A.R..

i just wish they would release Hl2 and let every one download CS:S when its done and ready for the interenet.. that game is olding the whole thing back..

Do we even know exactly what the combine soldiers are, what i mean is "the terminator" and robocop didnt flinch much when they were getting shot. Well i think the ant lions flinched good when hit, they kind of like lost there legs and just fell to bits.

Another note is the 2004 vids would have been done abit before E3 but we dont know how far before. Anyway if your really that bothered and its not there where it should be so to speak then mod it.

I think if i got shot in a gun fight with someone I would suck it up and keep shooting.. that's what the conbine is doing?

Holy shit. The 'no time' argument is bullshit. If the engine supports it then the work's been done and it takes a matter of hours to implement. I'm not going to say this again.

Of course the engine supports it. Every engine supports it. It's just an animation. Doom supported it.

Actually, after being shot by most bullets, one does not "Suck it up". One usually falls to the ground bleeding, they dont continue to stand and shoot 4 round burst in correct pose.

Yeah, I highly doubt one could suck up a shot to the kneecap or a bullet in the gut unless they were high on PCP or something.

LOL, that's hilarious

"ugh I just got shot! My lung's punctured but I'll just "suck it up" and keep shooting!"
