I bought this game half skeptical of the quality considering EA's choppiness and the lack of quality and polish showed in the demo renditions of the game. I must say now that i've had a chance to run through the first few sp missions, im more then impressed.. I'm ducking for cover from Japanese Zero's.
Ok the game starts you off in an action packed beach raid scenario showing off the cinimated quality and novelesque plot centering around a all-american protagonist that anyone drafted into a war could become. The mission lasts for a little while allowing you to operate a 50 cal and mow down some boats / japs on a dock to the left of you, btw the havok 2.0 in sp is simply stunning / fun the ragdolls and amount of things that can be destroyed is rediculous.
It then becomes apparent that the game is a flashback of sorts and (2 yrs earlier) is the caption and you are explained the brutality and purpose of the marine core and why it was formed and why it remains such a force to be reckoned with (there a a pertiuclarly beutiful cgi showing a ceremonial ritual of Marine Core marching before the Pearn Harbor mission which comes right after the first mission).
Pearl Harbor was stunning, you are introduced to a man who guides you around showing you tropical up-beat navy base, every seems to have a task you see people mending a roof soldiers doing sit-ups and people sitting in benches, on one instance you even have to stop to calm down some naughty soldiers who are reading sharing a diry magazine with one-another. The game makes you feel like you are living as this man during this period of time.
I was amazed at the sheer amount of activity that was going on around me, simply stunned and the graphics quality of everything. Other people's gun models are detailed like i've never seem before in a wwII shooter you can literally see fingers on triggers as apposed to most games even now. Ok now that i'm done ranting on graphics, eventually everything goes to hell in Pearl Harbor and you are forced to complete objective that include blasting zeroes away on aa guns manning a multi man flakk crew to destroy as many jap planes as possible and saving a ship from sinking by breaking doors open with an axe and closing steam valves and opening water release switches.
The most impressive thing about the entire experience is take one look around you and it's war... people are dying everywhere people are sliding off the decks of ships to there deaths bodies float lifelessly by the hunreds, and planes coat the sky in unprecedented numbers. There is simply no way to explain to you people the cinimatic beuty of this mission. The bootcamp introduces you to your spunky rag tag team that you get to know throughout the sp expierience. The exposions/particle/smoke looks better then i've ever seen in a pc game hands down. I'm too lazy to make this a full fledged review but... also mp impressions so far: no more mouse lag, improved server lag, seems like theres a lack of physics , but fun objective based (like ET but more dynamic/fun) the whole expierience is a blast..literally (sorry)
