It creates jobs by pushing the security sector harder and harder every time the latest and greatest system is broken. Depends whether you're a black or white hat but all the same what you're saying is just silly. In an ideal world of peace and love my job wouldn't exist for one thing.

so as long as there's a reason there is nothing wrong with it? Are all hackers pointless and sad? Im trying to follow the logic that would inevitably justify a lenghty prison term but I just.....can't. Let's not fill our prisons with non-violent good guessers and leave them for the serial rapists and murderers.

white collar criminals never share cells with rapists and murderers ..they're shipped to minimum security prisons like the prison/spa where Martha Stewart and Scooter Libby called home

no no i personally dont see the reason why somone feels the need to hack,
all hackers that break the law indeed are sad the ones that hack into peoples emails accounts to read there private emails the ones that try and steel money. Those are the ones that are just plain stupid imo, i still say good to him getting 5 years hopfully it will set a example

i'd like to hear the dumbass use that as a defence in the court. "i just wanted to prove how stupid she is". Whether Palin was silly or not for using a yahoo email account doesn't make it right to hack into her personal stuff. what the l33t hacker did was not only stupid, it was also illegal. don't forget he also posted some of that personal stuff on the internet which I believe is also a violation of privacy.
