Art students will tell you it matters, but frankly if your just doodling it really doesn't matter.

Though as a general rule, the softer the material used, the softer/thicker the paper

I get these booklets of thin cartridge paper type stuff, A4. Cheap enough and last months, but then I don't draw much if at all :P

EDIT: Fock, sorry - didn't think it posted the first time! :O

To do my designs and stuff, I have a sketch pad which is 90gsm, and the times I doodle, I use my school books, or some cartridge paper. Go for some thick stuff if I were you. Not only is it better to draw on, but it lasts longer too

You should see Sulkdodds' school books... he works his way from front to back with his work, and from the back of the book he doodles all his strange drawings... then they meet at the middle

I doodle in lessons too, but i prefer nice, clean A4 paper that i bring to school :)

lmao i used to do that too! lol, was ok at first until the ratio of work vs drawings went in favor of the drawings a little too much, then i started getting into trouble (and it was hard to explain naked female drawings surrounded by gigeresque sketches when you had to go up and show the teacher your work...) :p

Yeh, I'm very guilty of that heh :D Every single book is absoultely covered in strange random doodles :P My teachers are fairly lenient though, and usually don't mind flicking through. I would draw naked beautiful women, only I can draw them good until I get to the waste, where I completely bugger up the legs. So I just draw torsos of beautiful naked women now, except they're neither beautiful or naked :p

What paper do I use...uh...any paper. Generally basic printer paper. Also post-it notes. Lined paper. Squared paper. Recycled paper. Toilet paper. Napkin paper. Tissue paper. Newspaper. Sugar paper. Rice paper. The list goes on. :p

95 percent of my drawings are done on regular old school lined paper.

I never really settle down to do a big work of art or something.. Just doodle, or occasionally use an entire sheet of lined paper to make a fledged drawing... I never scan or show my work to anybody but my friends and family, so I really see no point of using any other paper.

Arrgh I got a papercut under my fingernail once... That has got to be the worst spot to get one.

I prefer not to show people my drawings, they get really disturbed :P
