i believe in parallel universes but it doesn't really matter at all, now does it? contact between two would collapse everything because it would mean simultaneous occurence of two mutually exclusive events

Back on topic, personally I find it much easier to believe that parallel worlds exist rather than the possibility of time travel. I think the idea of parallel universes came as a solution to the grandfather paradox, so if you changed something in the past you would end up in a parallel universe.

I agree, it's like a light switch, you can either switch it on or off, you can't have it on and off at the same time!
