I know someone who will be in Paris at the same time. Say hello to her for me. I should have done it last time I was there. But instead I turned into a werewolf and terrorised the locals.
I was born there. I recommend buying a GUIDE as there is far too much to do.
Louvre is amazing, do go. If you like shopping there is the Champs d'Elysee. Architecure, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame blah blah, all this standard tourist stuff.
I went during Christmas. Paris is beautiful, and the Eiffel Tower is really something when it's all lit up. Make sure you buy a snack at the stands only 30ft from the tower
I looooove Paris. Some stand outs for me (and, I imagine, a good percentage of the world as they are popular tourist attractions, haha)
Centre Pompidou (Contemporary arts gallery, very cool stuff in there. Make sure you check out the Phillipe Starck stuff! Very much the French version of the Tate Modern. See it for the fantastic architecture alone. Beautiful building.)
Notre Dame
Eiffel Tower (it's really worth the long wait times)
Arc de Triomphe
Musee d'Orsay (old railway station-turned gallery. Lots of really old stuff and a fantastic building to boot.)
The Louvre is really worth a visit, but I really recommend you plan ahead for that one and spend a day going around it because it really is one hell of a gallery. It's great, though.
Also, at night time, make sure you visit the Basilique du Sacr?-Cœur as it's a incredibly thriving place at night time for young folk. It's just one big gathering of students and the like who all come together to admire the view over Paris. Lots of musicians around - it's wonderful. Really friendly place.
