Everyone knows that parrots are intelligent animals. They can not only mimic human speech with high accuracy, some of them can actually understand the context of their speech. There have been some researches done on this. Scientists made parrots learn speech and logic like a kid. One of the test subjects is called Alex.

I wonder if this has been done before. If parrots can truly understand what themselves are speaking after proper training, we may do the following. First, we teach two parrots, a male and a female, speech and common logic. Then, we talk to them and examine them to make sure they have acquire the basic skill of communication. We make sure that the two parrots have seen each other speaking, so they know that their counterpart can speak like themselves as well. After that, we left the two parrots at the same room alone, without visible human in the room. Will the two parrots start talking to each other in human language?

If parrots do have a kid's intelligence, they probably will. I am really interested if parrots talk to each other like human.

I'm willing to bet they revert to instinctual communication when they need to talk amongst themselves.

In fact, I'll stake my career on it.

Parrots are not too expensive. They are expensive, but not VERY expensive. It will not be too difficult to carry out the test. Yet, my home is really too small for two parrots. I wonder if someone would like to do so.

Teaching parrot will not be too hard, I think. If one has a small child at home, he or she may just let the parrot stand beside their kid, and let the parrots learn with the kid. Of course, "do-and-reward" is necessary for the very beginning of the education.

Have Vegeta do it. He already owns a parrot.

Oh and if your house is 'two small', and parrots are 'small' and you have 'two' of them... doesn't that make your house the perfect size as long as you're out of it while the parrots are in?

/stupid unfunny joke

EDIT: You edited your typo! PFFT!

But we must make sure the parrots actually understand the context of their speech. Otherwise, they may probably just mimicking the sound of human speech. If it is a mimic, surely the parrots won't form any sensible communication. The parrots must understand the meaning of each words and some basic grammar, before they can actually talk.

p.s. I always proofread.

p.s.s. And the joke makes sense.

I own, like, 20 parrots.

Too old to teach that kind of stuff, though. :<

They just communicate through the internets.

If any one of us makes a typo, there'll end up being 19 parrots.

It's very harf.

When he was tired of being tested, he would say “Wanna go back,” meaning he wanted to go back to his cage. If the researcher displayed annoyance, Alex tried to diffuse it with the phrase, “I’m sorry.” If he said “Wanna banana”, but was offered a nut instead, he stared in silence, asked for the banana again, or took the nut and threw it at the researcher.

thats excellent. xD

I for one welcome or new feathered overlords
