Hello there. Fellow posters? My mom just bought passion of the christ and I dont know wether to watch it or not watch it, ive been sort of leaning on and off at the fact that this movie may distort the view of what Jesus really does look like and somethings in this movie may be a bit off.. anyway else feel the same? and it is it safe to see?

yes, just watch it as a piece of cinema.

there's lots of blood so if you're squeamish don't watch.

I thought it was a pretty good movie.. If any inconsistancies are in the movie that you dont think should be in there atleast watch it for the story.. no movie is perfect.

Jesus (Son of God) as we know him probably didnt exist...so it doesnt really matter. The Bible is pretty far fetched if you ask me. I mean...talking snakes..god creating heaven and the earth in complete darkness. Its not as if he had any picture references of anything to model stuff on is it..

True its not going to be perfect, but no one should TRY to act Jesus somehow that contradicts itself because you have the easter church plays christmas church plays and what not ..i guess ill watch it. Im not to squeamish its all about,
"Can you handle life?" -ogrish

Watch it, depending on your age and how your mother feels about it, it may not be appropriate. If you dont want it to distort your view of what Jesus looks like then dont let it, the movie wasent made to give you an idea of how he looks.

Of course the movie isnt going to be an exact, it can only follow closely to what the bible tells us. It does however give you basic idea and feeling of what happened in the final hours of Christ.

Great movie

is just a movie were you see jesus bleeding a lot
there is not problem whit that

Passion of the Christ is great entertainment, though bloody in parts. Watch it :)

Aye. Well acted, nice effects, kinda cool with the languages :)

I wouldn't really call it entertainment though....

I would call it "A good experience"

Saw it in theaters.. bit meh movie... Very bloody and gory though.

When checking whether a movie is good or bad I usually ask:

"Does anyone die?"

Seems sort of redundant in this case :p

Sidenote: How can it distort the view, when its already so distorted? Translations are always wrong. The bible usually mentions "gods", not "God" :)

Dont want the reptillians to find out, they'll be coming after me.

It was an interesting film. Your experience will vary depending upon what you believe in.

I think he was refering to what he physically looks like (correct me if im mistaken).

Im not sure what bible your refering to, but the one this movie is based on there is only one god.

What I meant was that yeah a man named Jesus probably did exist 2000 years ago...but not all of this 'Son of God' lark.

The bible is quite disputed in terms of "God". The bible specifically talks of "God of gods" or "Lord above all gods". The bible never talks about only one God, just one supreme God, ie our "Lord".

Fun fact about the bible: God wasnt first. Water was :)

And apparantly..God first created heaven and earth...then later he created light..which means that he made the heaven and the earth in the dark..How could he see what he was making if there was no light! :D And talking animals? ..wtf? :D

And how could the water be there before the heaven and earth?

But there might have been self glowing algae or something in the water, that could explain light so he could see ;)

Passion didn't tell the good parts of the story of christ, it was just the negative stuff because it sold tickets. Now, Last Temptation of Christ, watch that if you wanna see a good Bible movie.

I heard it was 75% Jesus getting badly beaten and 25% explaining why he was getting beaten.

If light hasn't been invented yet, there can not be light-emitting substances.

Anyway, we're talking about a being that can create matter/energy/life out of nothingness. You know, I would think he could operate in the dark.

Ok but do you know what they are refering to when they talk about other "Gods" and even "Lords" in the bible?

LOL... never only talks about one God?

Dont think I would call that a fact. Where does it say there was water before there was God?

Ya, but weren't we created in God's image? Doesn't that mean he might have eyes? Though why he would have eyes when there was no light I'm not sure.

Actually come to think of it, I'm not sure why he would need arms and legs either. Hmmm....

i thought the movie was booooooring, i mean the really cool thing about it was how they portrayed satan, and everything else was just long and dumb

and it wasn't even that bloody, i was teh dissapointed :/

Yeah, but look at it the other way... If we are Gods image, how ****ed up is he, huh?!?!

I watched it and since i dont think there is a jesus and i think the bible is all BS i thought i was a good action-drama flick

Heh, too bad Braveheart did'nt save jesus. :D

Or Danny Glover did'nt joke around with Christ before being put on the cross:

Lethal Weapon 4: "Bockbockbockbockbockbock!"

The official view of the site is if you aren't old enough, don't ask your parents ;)

However, I would suggest seeing the film. Whether you believe in it or not, it is a great film. I Thought they pulled it off rather well.

I personally thought it was a rather boring movie. Probably because the average person (Especially christian) knows the entire story. Not the mention the ending wasnt exactly a surprise... If anything watch it cuz its actually kind of funny. The character that plays satan is fairly laughable.. and the baby he's holding, so kewl looking. LOL And the children that torment judas >_> Man, i was laughing so hard in my head when that was going on. Just proves lil kids are pure evil. And at the end when that crow pecks the guys eye out.. wtf :-/ Pretty funny. Too bad all the funny stuff was entirely made up and not from the bible. Its a movie, if you dont have anything to do for two hours, movies are always nice.
