Patch killed my BF2

Help! When I try to start bf2 now my screen just flickers and dumps me to my desktop with this error :x

well, you'd think EA would quality check the stuff before letting it out... besides, its more fun to blame EA

Mine is absolutely fine with the patch, it wasn't before the patch though.

That happened to me, but only cause i was using a no-cd. so I replaced the nocd files with the real files and patched again. it worked. Although now i have a hell of a time getting my computer to read my cd (my drive is ****ed)

Yeah, that's probably exactly what's going on with me....my dvd drive is dying so it only reads once every 40 or so times, hence I was using the no-dvd crack....guess I can't play till I my friend gives me his old drive *sigh*.

Yeah, cause you cant just patch over the no cd files, you have to have the original files intact before you patch.

correct. but you could download a nocd crack for the newer version. there should be one out fairly soon.

Edit: theres a "fixed image" which, when combined with "daemon tools", will let you fool your computer into thinking you have the cd in the drive.

Mounting one of those little mini CD images should work.

I defragged my pc last night after the patch, and well, the game works a lot better, only stutters when it first gets loaded about 10-30 seconds, doesn't really both me, I need more ram etc. Other than that, it runs fine!

But don't they have to make a different crack for the cd and the dvd versions? I have the DVD, so it might be harder.....anyways, I figure I'll prolly just wait till my friend gives me his old dvd drive....I don't really like the fact that I have to incriminate myself with a nodvd crack, when I paid full price and bought it.

Yeah thats right, i have to wait for the 1.01 no cd to come out. for now i have to use my cd, and live with the strange grinding sounds my cd rom makes haha. Its wierd though, cause that doesnt happen with the 2nd and 3rd cd's only the first one, which of course is the play disc. You can take it out once the game loads though which is good.

Poeple use the image, I looked and this game uses safedisc so if u use the image you can leave all the install files alone, and you never have to wait for a crack, the image works with every version of the game. But if you ant to be totally sure google image and safedisc or bf2, in the long run this makes it so much easier.

Use a "Mini DVD" Image like I do. Rather than inserting a disc or using the full image of the disk you use one which is only a few 100kb. The game doesn't know the difference and launches. PM me and I'll send you a copy of it. You'll also need an image loader Alchohol 120% or Daemon Tools will work fine.
