PC Gamer UK, I think I love you (SC:CT Demo!)

i've played pt and trust me, your not missing out on much

it was made by a different team than the original splinter cell as THEY were too busy working on chaos theory

the a.i always seemed to know where you were in pt and the alarm system was very VERY annoying. the multiplayer however was a different story...it blew me away and i played the demo of it from last summer until now, when the ct mp beta came out

excellent stuff

just wondering man what options become available with ps2.0 as my x800xt supports 2.0 so i hope in the final release or maybe after a patch i'll be able to select it

i think it only supports ps 1.1 and 3.0 but i'm not sure

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory has been in production since 2002.
Ubisoft got another studio to make Pandora Tomorrow.

im getting an amazing 1kb/sec, and a blinding 3kb/sec every once in a while for 1 second.

for some reason, downloading torrents off that website saves them with the first word only, like "splinter" instead of "splinter cell chaos theory pc demo.torrent"
weird. but nothing to stop me from simply renaming it

ah my speeds are picking up now, 22kb/sec peak. should rocket soon. aobut 25-26 seeds now.
btw, what is 'Total Speed' exactly mean?
now its 30k/sec :D

That was great. The face textures are a bit crap but everything else was amazing. I should be ashamed, but I've never even bought ONE of the SC games. I'll have to go out and find all three now. :)

How do you get to climb the lighthouse like in the videos?

You cant climb up the outside of the lighthouse, the way to get on the other side of the railing to grab the gaurd is just get up there by the stair well then jump over the railing, then just shimmy around under him

ok lets all put down a few pros and cons

pros:lovely graphics,lighting

some use of physics(shoot stuff off tables, hey its no hl2 but its something)

nice new night vision and thermal goggle hud

electromagnetic vision

new moves(expected though)

nice sound, guns sounds etc are recycled but the use of reverb effects was nice particurly since i dont have a fancy soundcard

great atmosphere

a.i seemed slightly better, not really saying much though

good banter between guards and good responses while not quite achieving thief 3's excellent ai speech

cons:very linear still

still has that "the level was designed this way and only this way" feel
,for example in the area where you get to your target i shimmied over above the entrance where he was being tortured, below me the 1 guard who had had enough walked out to patrol, once he went off i dropped down believing i would automatically grab the ledge but i didnt because the lvl wasnt designed to allow me to so i fell down alerting the guards and thus died.

odd ai behavior,in the same area i was discovered and hid up against a wall,1 guard was firing at me and the other just ran out right in front me and past me to the other side of the room,i didnt shoot coz i wanted to see what he did,he ran to a stack of crates and began shooting from behind it,that was odd as he just ran in front of me where i could easily have killed him

no major gameplay innovations like the jump from mgs2 to mgs3

It's a knockout! Now I play through again, this is a very short mission.

just to tell you guys there is supposedly a http link at a site caled pcgamessource.com,so check it out if u want

Heres a nice lil selection of screenies i made to show PS 3.0 effects.

Notice the parrellex mapping makes the textures look as if tehy;re sticking out...there are better examples i just cant be asked to look around the level :p and the HDR is self explanatory

yeah nice. no huge difference, just extra lovliness lol, has a release date been announced?

How do you enable hdr in the demo? I bought the mag, heres better in a few hours its online

You've got to have a card that supports SM3.0. No 2.0 as this is an nVidia-sponsored game...

Found the HTTP

Steady 312 kilobytes per second.

31 minutes, 44 seconds.

thats why,ffs thats annoying

I really love this. This is the best Splinter Cell game. I have played the first 2, but this is by far the best. I love the new AI. I accidently left a door open, and the guard responded to that by saying, "How did that door get open?" I grabbed him before he could do anything about it though. :E Unfortunately, my piece of shit ATi card freezes every 2 minutes, so I have to play the game in fragments. I really hate ATi, and I will never buy an ATi card again. :flame: :flame:

I am serious. Every game, even HL2, freezes because of my crap card. It's the damn VPU Recover thing. And when I turn it off, my computer freezes too...

Turn down the settings then, I have an ATI card and it works great.

Instead of blaming ATI, blame who you bought it from..
it works out better.......for me....

played the demo
wasnt blown away, as i expected
the graphics are obviously very slick but the gameplay still leaves something to be desired IMO
AI needs a major overhaul.. for example, i shut the lights off and watched as it took almost a minute for the enemy to say 'who turned the lights off??' and proceed with his investigation

I finally downloaded the demo, and this game is stunning. It may be mainly a graphical upgrade, but for a game that relies so heavily on stealth and atmosphere, graphics were after all the main thing that needed improving.

Splinter Cell Gameplay + Mindblowing Graphics = :O :bounce:

The only problem is that it gave me artifacts for the first time on my Radeon 9800 Pro. I was getting a little worried, but everything seems to be fine now.

Just finished it now, very pretty (especially in night vision). Had fun taking a guy hostage then killing him at the top of the stairs. He had a nice fall har har har har har. Really good, better then Pandora Tomorrow (well that wasn't hard), should be picking this up when it's out :D

Does anyone know how to snap people's necks?
I am only able to stab people, punch them in the neck and palm strike people.
