Every month, the most popular gaming magazine in the UK, PC Gamer holds a section entitled "Your Most Wanted". Every month, the readers of the magazine e-mail or write in with their top 5 upcoming games.[br]This month, Half-Life 2: Aftermath re-enters the chart with 27% of the vote and this is what PC Gamer have to say:
The switch of focus to episodic Half-Life content is raising all kinds of questions, with Gabe Newell comparing it to a change from making movies to TV shows ... [br]Major efforts have gone into Aly'x brains, which is something of a relief: being accompanied by a woman who walks into doors, can't climb a curb and forgetfully repeats herself would be somewhat dispiriting ...[br]In addition Aftermath boasts a kind of director's commentary [much like Lost Coast] to highlight its own graphical wonderments.[br]Official ETA: November[br]We say: You do the (after)math
It's about time we had more information on Aftermath, and it's also about time I gave Doug Lombardi a bit of a probing so stay tuned for more information... If I can get it.[br]It may also be worth mentioning that two other Source engine games, Dark Messiah and SiN Episodes also made it into the charts. You can check out what they have to say about SiN Episodes over at SiNEpisodes.net.

Very cool. So your going to try to get a interview with Doug?

I hope you can get it :)

It's always nice to hear from Valve.

Me, Doug and interviews don't work very well together. The last one took six months to get the answers back :(

there's not much of interest games wise due coming up to 2006 :(

Just interview mod crews, those are the people that care.

But sadly, aren't the people that matter. :E
Tis lies, all lies. Oh look Mr. Borgman :borg: there's a new lifeform over there, its name is Cypher19! :cheese:

Heh, i noticed that rather shameless plug also. Good work Chris :upstare:

can we get some information about lost coast?

nextmonth is aftermath so wtf?

I can see why you are plugging SinEpisodes.net, only 90 members

It's only two months old.

Makes sense since Q4, FEAR and indigo prophecy have all hit the shelves.

So why keep plugging it so much?
Some people here want SiN Episodes news. Others do not. Therefore I decided to compromise and instead of making a whole new news post on SiN Episodes, I decided I would link to the relevant news at SiNEpisodes.net.

Hmm, why do you think Lost Coast isn't out right at this moment? People have reviewed it. It's done. Not including some kind of ATI video card conspiracy, what are reasons for it not actually being released yet?

Me.

But I'm not going to be another "OMFG VALVE IS SO LAZY" moron. I want to play it, but I can still wait.

yea, theres alot of mod news out there that doesn't get posted due to all the valve uber fanboi news. Please halflife2.net, even if its not the most famous mod, give em some attention for their hard work. we get all this sin stuff, we get aftermath, any game that will be put out on steam gets pushed. youve become valves advertising mouthpiece for their profits rather then a fansite that helps to push the mod community. RD kungfu has nothing to do with hl2, but gets a ton of attention.

remember, the modders are teh ones busting their asses for free to give us playable content, valve and ragdoll and aftermath have money, they can BUY advertisement, maybe you should sell them a banner rather then give it away, they don't give you anything for free, then use your news posts pushing the mods.

now, i hold on tight for the retaliation

Maybe you should read the news page more often, and take into account all the mod news we post.
In fact, looking at the front page now, I can see no less than nine mod-related news items, compared to five Valve-related ones, and that's assuming that the They Hunger news is Valve-related.

Except for the site hosting...

I'd also like to add that the Valve related news posts are a lot more popular than the mod news. This is reflected usually in the amount of comments these news posts get in comparision to standard mod news. So unfortunately, as you seem to be in the minority group, we'll be carrying on as we normally do :)

Don't need to retaliate, you have pretty much shown yourself up to be an idiot.

oh, valve pays for the sites hosting? didn't know that.

fer shizzle then, if they own the site, by all means turn it into a larg ad for the payed stuff, over the free stuff. My bad, I thought this was an independent fan site not an official one sponsored by valve. Ive come here for mod news for 2 years now, it seems every single steam update, potential game through steam, gets posted, but mod news doesn't as much. Dystopia gets alot of attention, but it makes sense cause they have intentions of retail over steam

my bad, no need for the name calling there ben, I never surf beyond the front page here, so i had no idea that valve owned the site and all, I thought that was steampowered forums. I just thought it was a fansite or mod site like it use to be.

oh well, I use to think with all this advertisement ya'll do for em, they should pay you or buy an add, I reakon that was already the case.

Valve do NOT own the site, it is an independant fan site, run by fans for fans.

Valve just host it thats all...

oops

well hosting/owning, i mean, you should kiss the hand that feeds you. is this the only fansite that valve hosts?

Congratulations - you've gone onto a whole new plane of trolling.

Valve in no way own this site, or have any editorial control. They merely pay for the hosting. It is, and always will be, a fansite.
I loved the way you ignored the facts I presented in my previous post, ignoring the very obvious fact that we post plenty of mod news, far more than we post any Valve news.
Which mod news are we failing to post, in your mighty opinion? Would you prefer more unskinned renders from unknown and failure-prone mods? How about badly-written pseudo "press releases" from the same?

I personally think you are doing an amazing job, you are the best HL fansite on the net
