Any games come out 2007 and later for PC with a good story line?

The first Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion I suppose.

And not to mention the fact that, you know, the game itself is pretty average.

is this a trick question? <looks around for hidden camera>

Mass Effect is good, long as you don't play too many BioWare games and know their cliches.

Bioshock has a good storyline?

It's a complete rip off of the System Shock 2 storyline.

Didn't enjoy playing it, so I didn't get very far into it. I am going off of everybody elses ideas.

PLUS, System Shock 2 isn't in 2007+, so might as well say Bioshock!

Swooping back up from a crushing disappointment?

Bioshock was everything that is amazing for me.

Bioshock
Mass Effect
Grand Theft Auto 4

ya I played mass effect and even though I thought it was good and hit all the high marks that a video game can it still doesnt do it for me in the story department ..I mean games have yet to reach the level of comic books in term of writing ...and really bad comic books at that. Dialogue in video games is mostly wretched and painful, plot devices are there simply to usher you into the next game level, it's completely transparent and breaks any immersion that they want players to experience. The problem is that the medium is far too restrictive. you can always see how the story is tacked on to lead you to set peice or specific gameplay mechanic

"oh look here's a gravity gun"

but that's ok, I for one dont think video games need storylines ..I mean they're for the most part silly and completely forgettable ..I mean really do I need to know the motivations for impossibly buffed guy in Gears of War or do I just want to blast shit to pieces and any storyline just gets in the way of blasting shit to pieces

Yeah I'd say Mass Effect too, and GTA IV if you don't mind the soul-crushing bugs. Bioshock, while I liked in theory, just didn't hold me long enough to complete it. It does seem pretty varied though.
Also Call of Duty 4 has an impressive story-line in my opinion.

Well, **** me for not reading right.

But ME is not better than KOTOR.

If we're saying Bioshock, we may as well say Dead Space. Since that's System Shock 2 as well.

Both recent Call of Duty titles have at least done interesting things with the First Person Perspective.

The DS has got a whole load of retro RPGs within the last two years that had good storylines back in the days when games just didn't have storylines at all. Chrono Trigger stands above all the rest of course, but Final Fantasy IV is still a quality title. EDIT: Oh, you said PC only. Whoops. Well, you could always be emulating the DS :p

err... Crysis had a better storyline than Far Cry. Go on, tell me I'm wrong.

But then, no game has a really good story. There are just games whose stories are less bad than others.

Anyone who says ME is better than KOTOR needs to die. Right now.

Psychonauts
Deus Ex
Tron 2.0
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay

fallout 3
bioshock
world of goo :p

Fallout 3? good story?

If you want story and writing then go play one of the previous games.

Grand Theft Auto 4 actually has a pretty good storyline, but the missions in between can get pretty boring.

Bioshock is also good if you haven't played System Shock 2.

Silent Hill: Homecoming had a pretty decent story IMO, it kept me interested anyway.

Wait, Lambda said Fallout 3 has good story?

Talk about credibility.
