Pc or Console?

Console FPS and PC FPS have nothing to do with each other, that's why they barely ever port FPSs, and if they do, they are much better on their original medium.

PC FPS tend to be about precision shooting. The characters are smaller, farther away, and the weapons are much much more precise. Console FPSs are more "shoot-em-up" style games (with exceptions such as BIA). Halo for example has a very innacurate automatic rifle, so I loved playing it with the controller but it was extremely frustrating with a mouse. Delta Force: BHD however blew big time on the console since it's all about shooting people miles away.

Personally, I'm gonna stay PC for a long time for the precision shooting and the better graphics, and also the customization that's available. I can definetly see the upside of consoles, but meh, not for me.
thats is cuz the developers do the fpss on consoles like that,if many fps in consoles play like halo is becuz how halo sell well they are trying to copy it

Uh... Okay... That's my point.

Like it or not, the majority of games worth owning appear on consoles. This isn't to say that there aren't some great pc titles, just not as many.

Again: You are right, but there is no shortage of games on the PC. Right now there are tons of games I wish I could buy but am too busy playing other ones. This is not a disadvantage. What's the use of having piles of candy if you can only take 2 pieces.

It's pretty safe to say that there will be many amazing games released next generation on the Revolution, PS3 and 360 that will never see the light of day on the pc.

Great games announced on the XBOX360:

Gears of War. PC: yes.
The Godfather. PC: yes.
Call of Duty 2. PC: yes.
Gun. PC: yes.
Hitman: Blood Money. PC : yes

That's enough games for me.

One thing: can you please stop saying consoles are better because there are more good games?

I shall try :)

I do actually like pc gaming a great deal, but also get annoyed when clueless people criticise consoles.

A few days ago my mates came around and I dug out the DC. First it was Samba De Amigo with the Maracas, followed by some frantic light gun action with House of the Dead 2 . Out came the arcade sticks and hours of 4 player Sega Athletics and Power Stone 1 & 2 ensued. To finish the evening we all chilled out to Rez and passed the fishing rod about in Sega Bass Fishing.

This type of experience can't be emulated on the pc. Even lan parties come no way near recreating this type of social gaming. This is just one console and a few games - I could literally go on all night (and probably list many excellent games most people here have never heard of or played)

I've no problem with someone who loves pc gaming, or someone who isn't a fan of consoles, just stupid remarks like, 'Better selection of games on PC, and better games all around on PC. Better graphics on PC, mouse and keyboard on PC. Internet on PC, everything else you could possibly want is on PC. Let's see consoles.. good graphics for a month or two after release. A ton of crappy games, a few good ones to be ported to PC within months.'

All in all

You have fun playing PC games
You have fun playing console games

Which you choose is up to you.

There has never been a console game that I wished came out for the PC so I can play it. I can't name a single console game that I'd like a lot except for maybe Halo 2.

Well how many have you played?

You're really contradicting yourself there. You've yet to come close to even proving one of my points wrong, stop calling them stupid remarks. Your console fanboy attitude is showing, you may want to zip that up.

I have - read back a page. It's you who have been ignoring my points.

You don't have to convince me of the benefits of pc gaming - I know full well (and have been a fan since I first bought Wolfenstein years ago) Your comments do make you sound rather clueless when it comes to console gaming though - especially, 'good graphics for a month or two after release. A ton of crappy games, a few good ones to be ported to PC within months.'

Maybe you aren't a fan of social gaming. Maybe you're happy with just a few genres of games. Just try an accept that some of us like a little more variety and feel there is much more to gaming than what the pc can offer.

Good graphics for a month or two is absolutely true, after a few months the next gen consoles will be completely owned by PC graphics. The same happened after PS2's release. And yea, 80% of the games that come out on console suck, sheerly because there are so many of them. And the good ones get ported, a few people have made lists in this very thread. So I'm right.

As far as "social gaming" goes, no I'm all set thanks, I'd rather go on a date with my girlfriend, and play some BF2 multiplayer the following day, that's how I get my fix. You say "There's more to gaming than what a PC can offer" but what's this thread called? PC or CONSOLE, not PC and CONSOLE. I'm saying which is better, I didn't say consoles are completely useless.

Compare the visuals between early PS2 titles and its more recent releases. The difference in quality is considerable.

There's also more charm, orignality and visual styles to be found in console titles.

That's a little harsh. I'd say the ratio of poor to decent games is the same on consoles and the pc.

That's complete rubbish *looks around for the PC version of Metroid Prime, DMC3, RE4, Disgaea, Ico, Viewtiful Joe ............. (I can go on and on if you like)*

No. There have been a few lists of quite average console games that have been ported to the pc .... hardly 'the good ones' as you put it. None of the console games i'd rate the most over the last few years have appeared on the pc (well, possibly Halo and GTA - but both of these are superior on the Xbox)

Sure, but people are different. (Wait till you've been living with the same girl for 10 years and tell me a night of video gaming with the lads isn't an attractive proposition) Or how about gaming with your girlfriend? A few beers, ladies, and dance mats, can make for a great spectator sport.

This doesn't really make sense. There is more to gaming than just pc gaming. Therefore there are reasons to chose a console over a pc (which is what this thread is all about)

Upgrade your PC, or even save up for a brand new one.
Computers are easy to upgrade and have a wide array of games, consoles on the other hand - they're harder to 'upgrade' even if they do have in some cases more games or certain games PCs don't have.

Just my thoughts anyways. ;)

Really big argument

hmm.. personally i've already made my mind up, and i'm getting a console. Sure, Pc is better at a few things, but sine I got my PC in november there have only been 2 games i have wanted to buy, and now my pc is outdated and wont play them. i just think console gaming is easier and in the long run will cost less. :)

Warbie I love how you always compare all consoles to pc when in fact most console owners only own 1 console not all 3. If you compare 1 console to the pc the game selection is pretty close depending on the time comparing and which console.
If the guy who started this thread buys an xbox 360 he will not be able to play the ps3 or revolution games like you seem to think.

I know this thread is dead, but I just want to state a point.

I built my PC so I could play FPS. I used to be a loyal console owner, but after a while, started hungering for some good FPS'. I absolutely hate platformers and racing games, and RPG's are horridly slow to me. I like fast paced shoot everything that moves gameplay.

You can't look at both as just two game systems. PC's are a whole different medium. People in this thread have compared the two as if PC's were the fourth console. That's not true. A PC is a PC, designed for FPS', MMO's, and stealth shooters. A console is a console, designed for party games, platformers, shooters, and adventure games (please don't go off on the whole "PC HAS GOOD PL4TFORM3RS" thing with me).

You want to sit with your friends, have a few bears, and yell "WHOOAAA! NICE ONE PHIL!" then consoles are your cup 'o tea. If you're like me, and enjoy sitting alone and shooting everything that moves, or being in a chatroom that has the occasional shootout (CSS anyone?) then PC's are your thing.

Buying a console is like betraying Valve :(

Except when it's the first xbox :p
