hey guys, i'm wondering if you all could answer a question for me. my friend is buying a new computer(primarily for gaming)... he wanted to buy like... one of those voodoo/falcon/alienware/abspc type comps, but i suggested that he buy parts individually and build the pc himself(or i'd build it if he was scared)... to do all thise, i suggested he check out newegg.com, as i've never ever had any problem with that site, they have always had pretty good prices, etc. but he says he wants to buy everything off of eBay, and he says he's an "eBay guru" and he knows how to look things up so that he'd be buying from dependable resellers or people or whatever. i've given my friend a list of different parts he might want to look into for his price range, and what he wants out of his new pc... but... eBay? should i keep warning him and tell him not to buy from there, or is it not very risky, and i'm being paranoid?

It can be very risky, and your friend is being unreasonable, IMO. Unless you're lucky, prices aren't THAT much better on eBay, unless you buy used stuff.

well, if he says he knos what he's doing... My friend constantly buys stuff off ebay for his computer (like this monster ethernet card that has 4 ports in it, with 4 diffrent controllers....windows reports it as 4 diffrent ethernet adapters.)

besides, it's his money... theres a good chance things will go alright for him as well.

okay cool, thanks guys. heh i'll stop worrying. it IS his money, and i already warned him so ehhhhhh
