I just got orange box for xbox 360 and wondered whether it was the best version of the game or maybe the other 2 are better. The graphics and controls are amazing and easy to master in that order considering its 5 years old and it looks next gen.

The PC version has the advantage of the mouse and keyboard controls which a lot of people (myself included) prefer because it is far easier to aim with it. You can also get mods for PC games, which is impossible with console games. On the other hand the PC version of HL2 and EP1 do not include all of the lighting and particle effects featured in EP2, while on the consoles both of these games have been upgraded to take full use of these effects.

Between the consoles the 360 version is the better. The PS3 version is reported to have a poor framerate and large amounts of lagging.

the PC version just means you can cheat. What about a Wii version with good graphics then the aiming and shooting would be good

Super Mario Galaxy looks damn good on the Wii.

It's the beautiful style and coloring, something that you can't exploit as well in the realistic world of Half Life.

To simply answer the question: PC for the control, the absence of lag in TF2 (from what I hear), and the mods.

the advantage to the PC version is that if u use steam whiles its offer is on then it only costs $38 which is ?19 so its considerably cheaper but I'm hardly going to buy another copy of the game so o well

PC
*Chaeper
*CONSOLE!!!!!!!!
*Mouse and keboard
x360 PS3
*always full graphics

I have the 360 version, which is incredible, but if my PC was better, I would have gotten it for that.

The 360 version is no slouch, though.

I've heard the ps3 version is not so good.

PC for mods (including for upcoming mods like BM). I also hear that Valve will eventually give PC gamers the updated versions of HL2 and EP1, which for now is just for the console's. If you want to wait for the updates, which nobody knows when it's going to come out. I myself perfer to play TF2 on the PC.

Although, I'm tempted to buy the Orange Box for the Xbox 360 because of all the neat features and graphics in the updated engine. It would also be awesome to re-play an updated HL2 and Ep1 with a 30 inch 1080i HDTV, and powerful Pioneer sound surround speakers. Should I get it?

The PC version is by far the best, being able to use the mouse, makes all the difference. I believe FPS can only be played on PC, in a console they just feel weird

And on PC you have updates :D

I'm not completely sure, but I think that there have nearly been no patches or updates for the half life series. What you have are the mods and that stuff.

Acid clearly has never played on a 360 as everyone who has one knows there are loads of regular updates for the games and the dashboard like every other next gen machine except ps3 i don't have that

PC all the way. I own a PS3, and might consider buying the OB for it if Vavle fixes the issues. However, I play on PC for a number of good reasons.

1- I love my PC :cheese: , it would be silly to spend mass amounts of money on a pc and not get my favorite games for it.

2- Dont have to pay for xbox live, 'nuff said.

3- Mouse and keyboard, way better for aiming. I can use the excuse with console gamers saying: " you've got aim assist online, i dont! "

4- Steam, never have to worry about ruining or losing the disk.

5- Im hard wired, where any console i have would be wi-fi.

6- Far lager community on PC.

7- Skins for TF2 ( and CSS ) tickle my fancy :)

8- Something about being 2 feet in front of my 16:10 widescreen monitor just feels far more "immersive" then sitting 20 feet away from a 32inch tv at 480i resolution ( dont gots HDMI in for TV :( )

9- Cheaper, all PC games are ( more often then not ) ten dollars cheaper then their console count parts, and usually just as good if not better.

10- Mods, while i dont play them the same way i used to ( a lot of ) they are still there and im shitting my pants waiting for the Black Mesa mod.

11- Fun console tricks and cheats let you explore the game and the source engine to its full extent.

12- with a good pc, you can have far shorter loading times.

13- Im sure there is a thirteen and many more as well, but that concludes my list of why pc is better.

Why console might Tickle your Fancy a little better then PC.

1- you can pick up a 360 for like what?... 250 used?

2- Xbox live community Is huge!

3- Dont have to worry about installs, you can take the disk to a friends house and play it there ( right? )

4- No Steam, while i find it very nice and helpful, some people despise it!

5- The Graphics in Half life 2, and Half life 2: Episode One, have updated textures, character textures, lighting effects, and many other updated fixes the PC community has yet to get.

And i think that really about it. any one want to elaborate more?

kacation_man you know that you can get a 360 for even less at ?170 and its only ?30 a year for XBL plus unless you own an alienware its probably better to get it on 360.

Probably the two main reasons why I personally prefer the hl series on PC rather than on any console:

1. I hate aiming with a controller, mouse is much more intuitive, altho some console games really nail the aiming (RE4 for me).

2. NO MODDING?!?! Seriously can't play hl without my custom models & some mods are just excellent.

Yah aiming at console is pain in ass, and why consoles are better?
You don't have to worry about FPS and graphics.

I think he's talking about US currency, which is about the same as what you said.

You don't have to worry about FPS and graphics.

The frame rate in the PS3 version sucks. And I have a relatively old PC with a 3 year old graphics card, and ep2 runs great, with great graphics and good frame rate. The source engine works great on PC

Are you joking?

What I was trying to say is that there are nearly no patches for the official game, no updates that fix glitches or bugs or things like that. You obviously have mods and other stuff, I'm not a retard.

The aiming on the 360 is spot on. You can adjust sensitivity and I have no trouble getting head shots with pistols, smgs, or shotguns.

As do I, but I would say that the Orange Box probably has the best controls of any FPS(or any genre for that matter) on the console.

It's hard for me to imagine HL2 on anything other than the PC.

It's like thinking Mario on the Playstation; there's a disconnect.

Do you even have Steam? My guess is you don't coz otherwise you would have known about the Steam updates.

I played also Black and GTA:SA on console and it seem that "The Orange Box" have best of them.

I guess you have no idea what the hell Steam does then.

PC, easily it has the best control system and is updated the easiest.

I own the OB on PC and have since the very first Pre-order day but I am considering buying it on the 360, as I have it in my room, it would be nice to play on HL2 etc before I go to bed :D

Also, I disagree with the statement 'The Orange Box has the best control scheme for a console FPS', I think COD4 has the best control scheme for FPS on the Xbox.

You are right, I don't have Steam. Sorry, I had the wrong information then.
You're being reported to the mods for having a pirate version of EP2.

Thanks for joining a community which supports Valve and it's games when you are blatently just stealing the games without paying for them. You've got some balls I tell you. Outside in the cold you go...

If you feel like joining everyone else (playing online, free updates to glitches / fixes / new maps etc) www.steampowered.com - otherwise, goodbye.

Back on topic - I have a couple of friends playing the 360 version and love it (although they've never experienced the PC version which will always be far superior in my opinion). But it's great that Valve's games aren't being enjoyed by just a select audience and more people are involved. I'm not holding much hope for the PS3 version...
