Ok it goes like this ...

My m8 baught a CRAP PC frm the crappest somputer people on earth .. i won't name names, all i can tell u about them is they think they have a world with a PC :)

His motherboard only has 4 PCI slots and he wants to kno if he buys an PCI gfx card, will it run Hl2 and new games etc. because i was thinkin in the terms of PCI is only x1 so was thinkin maybe it wouldn't be that good .. its late so i am talkin in sense of a noob

No.

You'll struggle with HL2 and you'll never play another game with most/all PCI cards.

Its not going to be any good for HL2. It might run it JUST, at the lowest settings with no advanced features on. Sounds like he doesn't have a choice really since he doesn't have an agp slot, unless he gets a new mobo. Depends on how much he wants to play pretty modern games decently.

I had a FX5200, and I ran on Med-High settings at 1024x768, and I only lagged when water was visible.

i have a fx5700le pci oced to 375/430 and it runs around 30 fps buts thats only with a celeron 2ghz and 384 pc2100 ram and my new computer coming wednesday will have amd 64 3200 512 pc 3200 ram so i shall come back with results since its one of those computers that dosent have agp or pci-e

The short answer would be NOO. But it aint that bad.. the comp I'm using atm is moms and its kinda shatty (athlon xp 2500+, 9200se *shudders*) but I can still play halflife 2/doom 3 and everything else that has come out so far EXCEPT battlefield 2 - and I expect, everything that comes out after bf2 (fps-wise - rpgs/rts etc need less specs).

So depending on how much gaming your friend does he isn't THAT screwed (hl2/doom3 don't look great on this comp but still fun). Also, depending on how computer literate either of you are you could always get a really nice aftermarket cooler and oc the card (although it still wouldnt support all those nice new features like dx9 stuff).

Oh and does the computer company rhyme with fompaq? cuz those r shat.
*edit* oh and dell sucks too :)

My old rig is an amd 700 mhz processor, 384 MB of pc100 RAM, and a RADEON 7500 PCI video card. It gets about 20 fps in HL2. :O

If my old comp can do that, yours will do fine. :)
