In the latest issue of PcZone (big Crysis picture on the front), there is an offer that says:

"FREE MOUSE worth 34.99"
"Only 9.99 every three months"

"Subscribe to PC ZONE for only 9.99 today and we'll send you a FREE Razer Diamondback Acid Green gaming mouse courtesy of PowerDrive Computers worth 34.99"

Anyone else thinking of doing this?

By the looks of it, the 3G.

The old one has a clear plastic on the mouse, but the picture shown in the magazine has a solid black shell (matching the 3G)

EDIT:

Looked on Amazon and the 3G pic is identical to the one in the magazine.

I'll never understand the whole "Best mouse for gaming" line. My good ol' Logitech mx510 still works for me, what do those other mouses do? Do they play the game for you?

Generally they have far higher laser DPI read resolution than standard mice, which gives you much more precision. Also you don't have to move the mouse as far to pan across the screen. I bought a Logitech G3 which has 2000 DPI and I found it noticeably improved my speed and accuracy when playing CS and DoD. So yes, gaming mice aren't cheap, but if your big on your online gaming they are a worthwhile investment (same as a decent headset).

Hmmm are you sure it's that one? I've got a Razer Copperhead and it looks just like that, but blue instead of green...

It specifically says in the magazine thats its a: "Razer Diamondback Acid Green Gaming Mouse". It doesnt mention whether its a 3G or not, but the 3G picture on Amazon is identical to the picture in the magazine.

I'll probably do the deal anyway. Once I find out what the mouse is like, i'll let you know.

Hope that helps.

Only three real factors for a mouse.

Does the mouse fit well for your hand?

Does the mouse have a laser that replicates your movements accurately as you want?

Does the mouse have enough buttons to satisfy your needs?

Most mice pass those requirements for me... Mice don't have to be more complicated than they really are.

Buy it now, that right there is as good as the Death Adder. Which is arguably the best mouse you can buy for games today.

The Lachesis has been around for a short time now.

I use an old style diamondback and it's not all the great considering the way in which I use the damn thing. If your a casual gamer you have no need to buy anything past an MS optical whatever, but if your a league player a higher grade mouse will give you quite some benefit.

Go tell that to fatal1ty.

Fatality is a bitch with his name on every piece of crap out there. He has been beaten by complete randoms before and will be again many a time.

The best mouse I ever had was a cheap generic optical one that cost me ?5 or about $10-12.

Does a ferrari drive for you?

With that analogy, you're saying that your just paying that much money for the mouse that does the same things as another car...just more expensively?

I understand the logics behind the mouse and why people say it's better for gaming. But in all honesty, a mouse doesn't make you more "skilled"...I've never had an issue with me going "OH MAN I SHOULDA HEADSHOTTED HIM! STUPID SHITTY MOUSE!" I think you're kidding yourself if you think a mouse makes you better..

Plus, about the scrolling across the screen faster. Increase sensitivity?
