People dont like Hl2's ending

I have been a bit upset at the reviewers attitude towards hl2's ending....WHAT THE HELL DO THEY EXPECT FROM THE ENDING UH? i dont get it, these idiots say it was an awesome game but weak ending-PLEASE DEFINE WEAK ENDING!!! i bet everyone of you hl players out there will absoloutely love the ending to hl2 and by the way, dont these fricking idiot reviewers know that there will be a halflife 3? have they somehow forgoten this rather important part of imformation? ofocurse hl2 will not have a specctacualr ending! its not finished yet-i am expecting this neverheless i know it will be awesome. It like those people who watched matrix reloaded and said it was crap because it had crap ending!!! IDIOTS, the movie wasnt finished, it was not the end, i loved that movie it was excellent but it was not the end of the sotry, the same with hl2, i know that it is not the end of the story and will be waiting for hl3. Doesnt that attitude just piss you off? its come to the point where nothing is good enough for reviewers! what do they want? do they want Ai that makes an enemy soldier scratch his ass when it gets itchy??? i cant beleive it, one reviewer said it would have been nice to see enemey soldiers limping and carrying away their injured!!! IT IS A FRCKING GAME- NOT REAL LIFE. Honestly what is going on? I think game reviewers forgot what games were!!! They dont care about what the game does good, all they want to talk about is what the game doesnt have!!
I say shut the hell up and play the games, and i mean actually PLAY the games and not just beat it for the sake of saying "yeah i just beat doom3, it was crap though, only lasted 20 hours, was looking for 25 hours"!!!!

Dunno about other mags, but people always get annoyed at endings, whether it's games, films, books or whatever...

Don't get too wound up about it though, you never know, the ending might be crap. We'll just have to wait and see

The whole game is good. The ending left me slack jawed and in awe, while a while earlier when the final area started, I was giggling "like a little school girl." This game will own you, don't worry - it's good enough that (like the origional HL) anything negative about the game is just nitpicking.

well actually matrix reloaded DID have a shit ending. you cant measure a film/game buy the next in the series which hasnt even been made yet, you have to review it as a stand alone product. i wouldnt be surprised if hl2 HAS got a rubbish ending. hl1's ending wasnt any great shakes either y'know.

All the review excep the Uk one- and by the way you cant look at hl2 as a stand alone game altogether, its pnly part 2!!! like matrix or starwars or lord of the rings, you might as well say that two towers was crap because it had a weak ending because not all the bad guys died!!!or the attack of the clones was bad because Dooku escapes!!Dammit man, these stories are only chapters in a whole saga, i hate people that measure one thing on its own.

No, because what we saw in hl1 was only one part in the story that will lead to the conclusion. It did what was intended, which was to compel the player to eventually discover how it actually ends.

PCZone uk said the ending was disappointing, as was the combine AI.

Doom3 - run in circle, shoot boss lots of times. lame ending.
RTCW - run in circle, shoot boss lots of times. lame ending.
Painkiller - run in circle, shoot boss lots of times. lame ending.

No reason to think HL2 will be any more original, but it's how it is incorporated into the storyline that makes a difference - we will have to make our own judgements when we finish it.

PC Zone also complained that the Combine didn't evacuated wounded soldiers - dragging them with one arm and shooting with the other...

They expected the AI to be groundbraking as all of the other aspects in the game, and to be honest when you get to a point when they comaplain that the AI is on par with the other games like Far Cry instead of being groundbreaking - that's good.

One of the best things about the original was you wernt forced to understand every minute detail, infact the plot was like swiss cheese which left a thousand ends open for people to explore in there own way, theres been some funny good and down right ridiculous fan mods and fictions.

The general feeling I get from the reviews, is the story is just as open as before, with subtle hints at things which are never fully explored (a good thing for a game) the mystery is what makes it interesting!

I'm not sure if you guys are going by the "review" put out by www.somethingawful.com but that was actually a total fake. It was a joke, so if that is where you are getting your information from then you might as well stop right now.

As far as I know they are the only ones who said the ending wasn't that great, however since that review was meant as a joke anyway and they havn't played the game yet it should just be ignored.

I could talk about how those battles with the striders almost made me cry, or about the events that Alyx guides you through so cleverly, so elegantly. I could talk about the twitchy fear instilled by your journey through an abandoned town, or the way the skirmishes with the Overwatch soldiers echo the battles against the marines in the original Half-Life. I want to rant and exult of this and that detail or event, this reference or that joke. I want to bemoan the fact that it had to end at all (no matter the excellence of that ending). And I’m distraught that we’ll have to wait so long for an expansion pack or sequel.

The first one was awesome. It was in a league of its own...an instant classic, then they realised they had a cash cow on their hands and made it all "epic", its like they were ripping themselves off in the sequels...they were embarrassing to watch.... totally "Hollywood/action movie/superhero/cliché" embarrassing, you know…

They ruined a classic and created sequels with an intentionally confusing storyline, to make it seem more "intelligent" when the first one was classic because it did this unintentionally, and without all the deliberate, overdone philosophy crap.... and don’t get me started on the advertising deals they did part and parcel with the sequels.

Man… I feel disenfranchised.

Oh and about the Somethingawful review comment, those guys thrive on pissing other people off, those spoilers were floating around the net before the artice was written;

Regardless if they are real or not...i can guarentee they put them in there just to be assholes, and not to be "lol" funny (well...it was probably funny to them putting them in there without any warning), thats what they are all about.

ahh...the story for all 3 movies was already pretty much done before the sequels were made!! and how the hell do you call them cliched and too hollywood? The matrix trilogy is the least hollywood movie to come from hollywood thanks to the wachowski brothers, the matrix trilogy is essentially a live action ANIME movie, if it were "too hollywood" then neo would have survived, won the war, killed all the machines, had many babies and become the supreme ruler of the earth!!!

They weren't planned word for word or written out as scripts or anything, but the brothers at least knew how Neo's story would end. A lot of the actors and set crew who worked on the Matrix remember talking to the Brothers about the whole "Matrix universe", and the rest of Neo's story. This was before the first one was even out, so they didn't know whether they would be allowed to create sequels. So while they might not have been planned out word for word or whatever, the brothers had at least a general idea of what happens, to work off. If you want proof, just browse a matrix forum for a bit (or even ask, though I'd be prepared for mass flaming), I can't be arsed digging anything up.

Scarecrow, just accept that some people didn't like the Matrix movies, even if you did. I can definately see why people didn't like the sequels, it's just those problems didn't really affect me. I can overlook them.

As for the whole ending thing...well, the original HL's ending sucked, so I'm not suprised if HL2's ending is rubbish as well.
