Perfect Dark Zero at E3?

Please be true.

(this would single-handedly sell the Xbox 2 to me)

I would buy Xbox 2 for this as well. Not to mention the strong lineup they are already getting. Such as Halo 3, Fable 2, Project Gotham Racing 3, and so on. They have a lot of developers working for them and even have some of the best Japanese developers working for them in exclusivitiy.

I'll probably buy XBN mainly because of BC2, BC(By Intrepid+Lionhead) seemed like one of the most original and fun games ever, sadly it was cancelled but just a half year before it was the sequel was announced, so I'm assuming we'll see BC/BC2 for the XBN, and it'll make for a real original gaming experience, and this definitely makes the XBN worth getting if it's true.

I will never forget how fun I had in MP and SP in Perfect Dark for the N64, best console FPS ever after Goldeneye imo.:)

agreed i would defo buy this if it was anything like the first game

i never played the first one.
but im excited for this one and i dunno why :p

Yeah it would sell me the Xbox 2, however Rare have lost many of the people behind the first. Additionally I bet they try and sex up the characters and make them 'cool' and then the controls will be more conventional fps, rather than Goldeneyes and PDs 'you have to stand still while aiming with right shoulder' style. Which could be good? or extremly bad?

I remember back in the old days when i used to play PD at my friends house, ace game :D

Yeah, I was expecting this game a few years ago.

Can't say I'm that interested any more. We'll see what happens when E3 rolls around.

perfect dark, a true classic...looking forward to the next installment

I wish Rare still had the rights to make James Bond games :(

I see all these shitty EA James Bond games coming out and it pains me knowing they're all spawned from the effort Rare made on Goldeneye.

I dunno, Everything Or Nothing kicked ass.

What the hell kind of name is XBox 360? Oh yeah, this rumor is good. :)

Now we just have to hope it's as good a game as GE and PD were :)

I agree with you SearnoX.

It seems like RARE has really fallen apart the last 3 years or so.

Possibly - but look at how good Perfect Dark was.

Much of the team behind Golden Eye had already moved to free radical when the original Perfect Dark was made, yet it was still great. Also, while good in multiplayer, the Timesplitters series all have a very average single player game - a million miles from the greatness that is GE and PD.

The argument that all the good staff have moved to free radical just isn't true.

Time will tell, and I still have hope.

Sadly, this is true. The hype has gone. And now that Rare are being sold again (Still rumours, but sounded worryingly true) to Ubi-Soft, I am beginning to wonder what has happened with this wonderful company I used to respect. It has taken them nearly 3 years to remake Conker's Bad Fur Day? And the same 3 years to make Kameo look worse than when it started? *sighs*
I will pass judgement after E3, but as it is....not particually excited.

EDIT: Just realised I've pretty much been repeating what others have said.

And Warbie, for once you are wrong about Nintendo :x Perfect Dark was incredibly close to completion when people left to form Free Radical. So basically all they missed was designing maybe a couple of multiplayer levels and the release.

I'm sure I read that a fair few of the key staff behind Golden Eye left early during the development of PD.

Either way - a new PD can't be a bad thing. At the very worst it'll probably be decent game worth playing. At best - well, we all know what that could be :)

(it's impossible for me to be anything but excited. imo GE and PD are the best single player fps to appear on any format, ever. Even a small chance that PD2 might live up to the original gives me a semi)

That depends on the type of game.

If GE was given a gfx and special effects update it'd stand up against the best shooters around today (and put them to shame imo). The same for PD.

(I can't play them anymore either, they look too awful - but even a few minutes play still shows that when it comes to gameplay/design etc etc they still have what it takes)

It's much the same with System Shock 1 & 2 - both classics, but try and play them today without your eyes bleeding :)

I dunno. If GE was made again today i dont think it would stand up that well to the likes of games like Chronicles of Riddick and Halo and so on. I mean, the game was a great multiplayer game but the single-player consisted of guys running toward you and shooting, which is about the extent of the A.I in the game. Now that same thing today would be slaughtered by the press.

System Shock 1 and 2 though would still stand up fine even if all they had was a graphical update. Awesome games.

I really doubt it will be. Most of the team that worked on those games have jumped over to Free Radical, and those left over seem to be pretty uninspired. Don't get me wrong, Conker looks good, but anything new they've tried has fallen apart. Perhaps they've lost the creative side of their team? I'd hate to see the new Perfect Dark be a clone of the original, or even worse, try to ride on Halo's coattails.

hold the damn phone a second, what proof do we have of this.. all they have made in the meantime is a couple of kids games, nothing substantial... I still have great faith in Rare and have no great reason not to. Bad Fur Day is looking outstanding and one look at there site can tell ya they haven't lost there creative edge.

Bah downhill since they left Nintendo. Perhaps Im still bitter about that.

Fanboy or not, they have been going down hill since nintendo. This may finally make the whole purchase worth it for microsoft.

Anyways, this better have slayers and n-bombs (my favorites) and the cheapest gun ever in a game, the farsight.

You guys do realize that Perfect Dark 2 is suppose to have cartoon graphics. This was annouced several years back and the Perfect Dark character is cartoon in the released pics afterall.

Um, read much?

I just showed this a few posts ago.
