I'm sure there will be some haters, but I think it looks brilliant. The parallax/bumpmapped floor textures look rather off because of the lack of AA, so I can't wait to see what it looks like with AA. The motion blur effect is very pretty, too.

X05 can't come soon enough.

I, for one, apparently fall into the "haters" category... even moreso after seeing that shot. It does nothing for me. IMO, it looks like ass.

What the game lacks in pure graphical power it hugely makes up for in atmosphere-producing effects. The explosions and coronas around light are really superb. I'm a little irked to see no shadows cast by the guards there, however.

This is much more reassuring after seeing the disappointing videos.

This is MUCH more like it. Everything before has been poor or cammed.

Looks interesting enough, but not enough to buy a new system.

skybox looks shitty, and the whole thing reminds me of Halo 2... which is not a good thing

bleh, hardly blowing away PC level graphics now, is it?

You can see they're doing the same thing with Perfect Dark Zero as they did with Halo. They're hoping to rack up huge sales with Perfect Dark Zero because it'll probably be the only decent Xbox 360 exclusive on release. Once everyone’s bought it and thinks its god gift to gaming simply because it's the best game on the Xbox 360, Microsoft will have succeeded in branding those people, therefore sequels will receive similar attention.

Uh, yeah, okay. After X05 and the official unveiling of PDZ, you find me a PC game that looks better than it does. I guarantee you won't.

I don't like how the guards just look... Transposed onto the final picture.

The lighting and explosion effects however look awesome. Not enough to shell out £400 odd for an Xbox360 I'm afraid. Also, I doubt they're going to be able to re-make the Perfect Dark bots as well as the original.

How come the 2 soldiers have smooth edges, but everything else doesn't? They don't have any shadows either.

Hahaha! Yeah, its WAY off! It looks terrible! The textures on the floor look ridiculous as well. They have got a whole lotta work to do if they want this game to meet everyone's expectations for it. Sadly, I think the hype has pulled too far ahead...but we all might be pleasantly surprised! Just as long as they DONT RUSH IT FOR RELEASE ON LAUNCH DAY!!!

Hmmm.. F.E.A.R, if you want that shadery look, looks far nicer with vol. lighting, softshadows and bump/parallax mapping, and you'll be able to squeeze out better image quality too

It looks like they were just pasted on from some obscure book cover...

I think it looks like crap.

I'm a die-hard PD fan, but that screenshot just looks like shit.

What makes you so sure they'll show anything special at X05? For all you know the graphics could have been nerfed since E3 because of issues with games running across multiple cores.

All these new games are comming out with WAY to much normal/parrallax mapping and HDR/bloom/lensflares. Come on none of this is really in real life (and yes I look!).

HDR is only seen in small amounts on very reflective objects or when you have stayed indoors for a long time or looked at something really bright for a long time.

Water is barely reflective. On very calm lakes water is reflective but not to the point of it being a mirror. Also only parts of a lake are reflective, areas with wave action are not.

Shadows are cast by everything and every light source casts a shadow. Also they are not all dark or light.

Sunlight lights everything. During the day there are almost no shadows by anything.

Im sorry but I would like less of this and more poly count. I know the hardware is not really good at it but the 360 has a unified architecture and the pixel shaders could all be used as vertex shaders and levels could have massive triangle counts which would get rid of the need for all mapping.

Try for HL2 normal mapping not overexagerated fake grouves in everything.

Nerfed since E3? Have you even seen the difference between builds of the game from E3 and just a month or so ago? X05 is when MS will truly show the potential of PDZ.

For those that don't know what the **** he's talking about when he says X05:
Microsoft X05 to take place in Amsterdam

Microsoft Xbox 360 is one of the most talked about upcoming gadget in the tech world. And to know more about it, people were waiting for the Microsoft X05 event, which has been in rumors since quite sometime. Now, the news is confirmed that the event is scheduled to take place in Amsterdam during the early days of the month of October.

The company has confirmed that they would be inviting industry leaders and journalists to Amsterdam during the event scheduled to take place on October 4 and 5th. They would be detailing their own vision for the upcoming Microsoft Xbox 360 gaming console, which would be taken on by the Sony PlayStation 3 sometime next year. Microsoft would have the advantage of coming out first in the market with the launch scheduled to take place later this year.

The company would also give a chance to the reporters to play the first versions of the games for the Xbox 360 gaming console during the event. In addition, experts believe they would also talk about the launch date and/or price for the console. However, they might release some of these details before the date of the event arrives looking at the little gap between the show and the holiday season in the United States.

X0 events have previously taken place at Pierre Cardin’s Bubble House in Cannes, La Isla Magica theme park in Seville and a beach club in Juan-les-Pins.

Ehh, yeah, my mistake. Probably should have clarified that.

I hope the graphics will blow everyone away so all the people with their insignificant opinions will be proven wrong. I liked the original PD, so I hope this will be just as fun.

What I really liked about the original Perfect Dark was the story. Sort of like the X-Files with the whole alien conspiracy thing.

I wonder how they can hope to top that if Perfect Dark Zero is a prequel?

Maybe Im alone here but I think that these next gen games as well as this screenshot all look great and I have fairly high standards. Only thing i dont like in the screen is the player models. Other than that Im extremely excited for 360 as well as the games Ive been seeing, I have a feeling the best is yet to come.

First thing to pop into my head was Alan Wake.

Mmmm... Alan Wake... me wants.
Alan Wake is on the top of my Most Wanted list

if this looks the same at X05 I will have to declare it shitty... hopefully they give me a reason to buy an X360, because right now I certainly don;t have one

Amazingly so!
I 'sliced' it up a little so that we could see where the crosshair is in relation to the center of the screen....

Not even close! There must be some seriously strong auto-aiming in PD0. I could never play with that, I can hardly stand auto-aim at all.

This is definately the worst screenshot ever taken.(or put together which I think it most likely was)

looks pretty decent, and considering Xbox 360 is $200 cheaper than Ps3, Id say it could deliver the goods as an opening fps title.

Um, are you an industry insider? Are you privy to certain information that none of the rest of us are privy to? Show me where the PS3 has been confirmed at $500 or $600 USD and I will eat my hat.

(FYI: The PS3 price is far from being nailed-down, so statements like this are just plain wrong at this time. Sorry to put my taint on your lovely post. ;))

Seems pretty meh all around. Its kind of pitiful when you think about the fact that Rare was probably one of the first to get dev kits and they are usually pretty good about getting alot out of the systems their games run on.

about the x-hair, most likely you aim with it and the gun is sort of "attached" to tie x-hair. im almost certain it isnt that far off. think operation flash point.

it doesnt look too great, hopefully it improves a LOT as some games are known to do.

Didn't they just have to slash a bunch of features in order to ship on time?

Im sorry, but that's what I heard their target retail prices to be at, I watched an interview on TV about E3 the target retail was talked about pretty assertively.

No problem. A lot of people take what analysts say as truth--investors, for instance. Lots of money is made(and lost) with pure speculation, so it is sort of understandable, but here's a clip from a recent Gamepsot article that discusses this very issue:

In an interview published in the latest issue of Famitsu, SCE executive Masatsuka Saeki emphasized that the pricing of the PS3 remains a vital--and difficult--issue for Sony. He confirmed that the company has not yet decided on a price, saying that it will be the subject of debate until the last possible minute.

On Topic: I assume the devs here realize the immense pressure on their shoulders from the fans that PDZ is a A+++ title, so I doubt people will be let down, but it wouldn't be the first time a game hasn't lived up to the hype. Please: No auto-aim though. Ugh.
