Nice to see someone in the games industry given something like this. It's like it's being taken seriously or something.

I was surprised to read that he was involved with Homeworld. I've just looked in the manual and it says "Special thanks" to him.

I'll congratulate him...as soon as he gives me the rest of Fable's singleplayer game...

Populous was made in the 1987 !!

wow one of the oldest games I played,it was very cool

Congrats to him! (What's an OBE?)
I still like him, dispite the failure to come through on Fable promises, and the apparent cancelation of BC.... (/me is crossing my fingers for XBX2 launch title :) )

Populous, was an amazing game... one summer, I stayed a friends house until school started, since he had a job, I was home all day. I discovered populous and wasted hours upon hours playing it repeatedly. Man I miss the Amiga.

OBE = Order of the British Empire I think.

It's good to see recognition both for the industry and for a daring attitude toward producing games.

I played Populous for the PC, it rocked. Go my little fire throwing natives!
Next... Gabe Newell a Knighthood :p

I bet the Queen plays Everquest 2.

they changed it to 'Order of British Excellence' now...to comply with new 'political correctness crap'. apparently 'Order of the British Empire' reflected too much of Britain's Imperial past which was no longer relevant in todays world *shrugs*

anyhoo...well deserved for Molyneux, well done that man

It's still called Order of the British Empire for the moment as far as I know.

Anyway, for more details consult http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2616057.stm

Peter Molyneux has been my idol for ten years. Any man who can code a game like Populous himself in his bedroom, then rise to become one of the most respected men in the games industry and create many games that people have referred to as 'the greatest game of all time' is a genius to me. My first Bullfrog game was Populous 2 on the Atari ST (I played the demo over and over and over back then) and have been a big fan ever since. Lionhead took things one step further for me, too. Black and White was a masterpiece but Fable should have been a PC title - it's a great game, it's just not as great as he wanted it to be due to console limitation.

The SNES version of Syndicate owns all.

He's also been whining for years because another British Developer, Jez San (of Argonaut software) got an OBE years ago. He obviously felt that he deserved one more.

He deserves it... He's quite a visionary, excellent ideas... execution has been pretty downward recently though. I can't speak for Fable, but I'm still disgusted about the Hype that Black & White recieved (not to mention the blanket favourable reviews), only for it to actually be the most annoying exercise in micro-management ever created.

Anyways, well done Pete.
