Phase 5 Preloading now!

All these preloads are starting to piss me off TBH. Whoopee! More HD space thrown into limbo! Wake me up Valve when you unlock my HD so I can use it again.

I realize I don't have to preload, but as we approach another 9/30 with no HL2, waiting for this game is finally beginning to wear on my nerves.

Try restarting steam, I had the same thing happen at 99.0% it picked up again after I restarted.

well this isn't looking good, i'm not wanting to reinstall as i've only got 256k/128 which caps out at 32k/sec and i have a 10 gig limit per month :| yes it costs me 70 $$ a month in Newzealand which equels 46.8301 USD.

so what is one to do? please if you think of something please try help me out :<

it may not be since after every preload it ends at 100%, what did it start at? cause mine first said 86% , now its at 92 % but nothing did download, and i still can't download it , HELPPPP

Restart Steam over and over until it gets its ass in gear.

the first time i started steam after the preload, it had the normal validation. then, upon starting CS:S, it unzipped/whatever the sounds, it looks like.
then, upon restarting steam(i'm running alot of 3dmark05 benches) it took over 10 minutes to validate. once it had, the VST was different than before.

Yes, one of the spinning mirrors looks different. And the water seems darker than before.

CS: Source runs a little smoother, although there appear to be a couple of sound effect issues on de_dust when walking around.

well i just went for a search in the steam forums and found this in their help section.

HL2 Preload Gets Stuck
If you are having problems with the HL2 preload getting stuck and nothing seems to make it start again, then you will need to exit Steam and delete the GCF files and start the download again. All you need to do is to select "Cancel Pre-load" which will automatically delete the old cache files, then you can start the preload again.

If you see this happen, then you will have to cancel and restart the preload:

- A pop-up dialog box comes up quickly and closes just as quickly without doing anything.
- pop-up title: "Validating Steam Files - 0% complete"
- pop-up text: "Please wait while steam verifies program files."
- Text above "blank" activity bar: "Validating file (0 of 1)"

this doesn't look good, i mean i do not have a meg connection and it seems like they expect you to when they just say "restart the preload", i mean wtf :<

Can't become much bigger if it fits on 6 cd´s.
You can correct me if im wrong 6x700 mb..thats 4200 mb.

Can one of you kind gents tell me how many files there are?

I currently have seven and although I've downloaded all the pre-loads so far (including the latest) the current size for me only seems to be:

3.40 GB (3,652,952,064 bytes).

Maybe u are one of the cs:s beta testers.
That may explain why your locked preload is smaller.
