Two Philadelphia police officers were arrested Monday evening and charged with robbing an undercover investigator posing as a pot dealer, authorities admitted Tuesday.

Officers Sean Alivera, 31, and Christopher Luciano, 23, allegedly stole 20 pounds of marijuana and $3,000 in cash, reports Troy Graham at The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Both officers, who were partners in the 25th District, were arrested at the district headquarters in what must have been a priceless scene. They were still in custody Tuesday morning, after being charged with robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy, and other distinctly cop-like crimes.

Rumors had been going around about Alivera and Luciano were shaking down drug dealers. The story made its way from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Narcotics Investigations to the Philadelphia Police Department about two weeks ago.

20 pounds? That's a shit load of pot even if the guy was undercover.

And these are just the guys that got caught.

No dealer carries that amount with him, surely?

Pretty funny all round TBH, the undercover guy compensating for the fact he isn't a genuine dealer by carrying a stupid amount, and the fugly rozzers fleecing their own man.

I admit, I never seen anything close to 20lbs of bud before. But it seems like if you were to package that much pot for distribution in small amounts on the street you would have a hell of a time stashing that much of it. Which just shows you how dumb these 2 cops were.

they dont go into details but it sounds like they met out in public

Oh, I bet it was.

You're right, not a lot of details on it, I assumed it was a street dealer but that doesn't seem to be the case, they actually pulled him over. Here is another article:

Authorities were sketchy on the details of how Alivera and Luciano allegedly robbed the undercover officer. They said the cops initiated a traffic stop on the man in Kensington, robbed him of his money and drugs, handcuffed him and took him back to the 25th District, where they instead found themselves under arrest. The sting was videotaped for evidence, Williams said.

I hope they release the tape.

but they really robed him or thought it was just another drug dealer?

They thought he was a dealer so they robbed him, presumably to resell the weed themselves for $$$

Alivera and Luciano also planned to have a drug dealer resell the 20 pounds of marijuana they stole, which was valued at $24,000, Williams said.

cutting out the middleman

Holy **** 20 pounds?!

They obviously weren't stealing it for personal use.

Is it just me or is the guy on the right from Supertroopers?

OH GOD.

I had an entire post written out gently making fun of Sterns continuous stream of "stupid cops" threads.

Then it turns out Stern wasn't the OP at all!

Maybe they were planning a hell of a party? Apparently they're cracking down on cops pushing drugs, how about they start cracking down on cops shooting helpless people now?

I can't believe that they're still wasting so much time and money on anti-marijuana operations, especially considering how close it is to being legalized in California. I hope that prop 19 does pass, just so it can start a ripple across the country.

does that will completly legalize marijuana or will be somehting like small amounts and no changing things like that?

No, it's for recreational use. It's only a matter of time, really
