Phrases That Just Annoy The Heck Out Of You

I saw this over at the Gamespy forum and thought I'd share it with you all. It's primarily geared towards English speakers but I think everyone would get a kick out of it.

For me living in the Southern United States, the phrase that ABSOLUTELY ticks me off is "fixin' to" as in "I'm fixin' to go to the store". Damnit, just go to the store, don't be fixin' to go do it!

I hate when, just after I've just said something (most likely staggeringly witty), people respond with this... even though they heard you properly! At least half the time when someone says it, all you have to do is not saying anything and just stare at them... and they miraculously know what you said! What the ****? Do you feel the need to respond within 0.25 seconds so you just fill in the hole with whatwhatwhatwhatwhat?!

Okay, so it's not really a phrase, but that needed to come out. :p

Okay first of all, apples and oranges can be compared, so the usage is completely idiotic to begin with! Secondly, no one should ever ****ing say this again! Anything can be compared; don't be the stupid asshole that thinks otherwise.



I'll take one from Maddox (http://maddox.xmission.com/c.cgi?u=boiling_blood) here, and point out the "That's your opinion" one... because I completely agree. :p

This is gettin' really annoying to hear all the time...

I hate the phrases and sayings:

Uber(when used in gaming... look at my uber item, my uber this, uber that... blah blah blah!)

I hate most hip hop slang, and leet speak sayings. <chuckles> Does that make me a bad person?

The worst of all:

"stfu!!"
 
any usage of the word pimp outside of the prostotution industry.
 
I despise the use of "tbh" after every sentence on IRC.

Any other phrases would be dutch, and I can't think of any either.
 
I hate it when American's say something "is shit" and they actually mean "wow, that is quite good".
 
It's not "is shit" its "is the shit". But yeah, it's a moronic saying. I also hate the word "y'all", so irritating.

like the whole "peace yo" kinda stuff. Another thing that i hate is the "fo' sho'"
 
ok, there's probably a whole lot of people who would disagree with me on this one, and it's not really a saying, but anyone who has their system specs in their sig on a forum. somehow by knowing that you have a p4 and 512mb of ram, my life has been forfilled.

people that use the word "man" in the middle and the end of each sentence.

heh, there's a guy at my school who says "hey man" at every opportunity. he is possibly the most annoying person to have ever lived. every time he opens his mouth it's either -
"hey man, have you done your homework, man?" or
"hey man, what are you doing, man?"
...so annoying
 
People that use 'like' as every second word in a sentence, bloody hell that pisses me off. Also, people trying to be 'cool' by using 'dude', 'bud', 'man' or whatever at the end of what they say.

yes.

i also get annoyed with almost every RnB/hip-hop phrase...mostly because i can't go to my local shopping centre without hearing some plucky little 12 year old spouting all sorts of language they probably don't understand. i also flippin hate it when kids are impressed by something and they'll say 'rar' or some crap. death to them!! that's pretty much townie speak, so i'll say i hate townie speak. bastids.

hahaha I find "oh noes!" to be hilarious because it reminds of that site..... ohnoes.com or something. OHHHHHH NOOOOOESSSS!!!! hahhahahhahahahahahahha.......so awesome.
 
For me, it's reading people's grammatical errors that piss me off the most:

For example, while online, people feel content to abbreviate:
you = "u"
to/two/too = "2"
for/four = "4"
etc....

ALSO, nobody seems to recognize the difference between the following words:
they're, there and their
your and you're
etc

ALL of that really pisses me off. I can understand a typo but that's all plain stupidity. Call me a snob but whenever I see something like this my respect for that person usually falls off a cliff. It usually turns out to be justified.
 
I hate people that use the word 'lol' in every sentence, even after stuff that isnt even funny...

me says: 'Right mate im off for some food, cya later'
reply: 'lol ok'

I mean... seriously... did you laugh out loud because i'm going for some food?

I swear, the number of times people say 'lol' to me is seriously annoying... if i'm really this funny I should be on TV!
 
Most internet words and abreviations.

That includes the likes of 1337, brb, lol, tbh, imo, imHo, roflcopter! (Ok, just rofl).

Also when people go, looooool or lollllll. Really, what can that possible mean?


Then there are things which like "To be honest" (Which unfortunately i do out of sheer habit but i mostly try to stop myself) "Chill" (When you aren't even annoyed) "Take a chill pill" (Same as last one).

Like you know, to be honest, i really think we should you know, try to like see if we can go on maybe play on the swings or something like you know the slide.
 
lol.. I notice how many are annoyed by the phrase "tbh" on IRC, I'm using it all the time hehe.. Might stop it tbh ..
