Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter support PhysX
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

- Explosions are physically simulated with a combination of rigid-body and particle behaviors. Fragments bounce off the surroundings, damaging other game objects and the environment with spontaneous realism.
- Generic effects such a bullet impacts and grenade explosions are drastically improved by burst of debris flying from the impact, increasing the tension and feeling of power of the weapons.
- Objects in the game blow apart with a cloud of realistic dust and smoke that drifts with the force of the explosion.
- Other particle behaviors in the game are physically simulated, such as trash and grit blowing in the street.

Just saw Digi post this over in another thread and it reminded me of this video my friend showed me last night.

It shows a truck exploding with and without the physics cards. And to be honest, i was greatly impressed with the difference.

Meh, I'm not overly impressed at the moment.

Wish it was a higher resolution, but I can tell it's quite intense. Very realistic.

They put two more videos on today. One with a game with thousands of barrels everywhere. And one with a flame thrower... which i think looks a bit dodgey.

Check em out though!

Woah, didn't notice those! The multiplayer one with thousands of objects is simply mind blowing. Such POWER in these chips! I'm amazed.

I thought the flame thrower vid was cool, it may not LOOK just like a real flame thrower, but the whole idea is physics, and how it's powered by particles, and the flames bounce off of walls and such.

site aint loading for me :(

edit: nm there it goes, just took a couple refreshes.

good stuff, but not immensely impressive, at least... not as much as say something like crysis.

wow, there is alot differences between the 2 videos

that make me think of getting a physix card when its realese

I don't think that's with the Phys-x processor alone. The developers of the game would have to have some input. That just doesn't come automatically with the phys-x.

Good to know that they switched computer setups for the comparison vids (y)

Notice on the physx portion it was all smooth even when there where no physics interactions.

But when they switched computers it was jittery even when nothing was happening, and it still kept a constant jitter which didnt look like it was getting worse from the physics.

GG Ageia.

P.S. I'm talking about another video on their site.

Which totally means that we have been jipped to hell, right? I don't see the relevance of what you are pointing out. But nice spotting I guess, if you are right ;)

Could you explain what you mean exactly? Of course it's not just going to make the game for you or something... It's basically just a physics engine, like Havok.

Yea right now it still seems too gimmicky for me... Sure you get some more newspapers flying around the street that realistically blows around... But I don't want to drop like 200-300 bucks more just to have a floaty newspaper.

Until developers really support this, I'm not wasting my money.

Putting that card in right now won't do shit for your games right now. Things obviously have to be programmed.

Ill be picking this up. Looks amazing.

Anyone else having troble downloading the HD videos?

I mean i downloaded them but all they play is the sound cant see the video, anyone know of a fix?

That sounds like missing video codecs. Try getting the latest DivX or looking around the site to see what codec you need. Also, try different players.

looks awesome. I remember back when the first hl2 vidoes came

"OMG...THINGS CAN FALL AND RUMBLE!!! OMFG>..LOOK...HE IS TUMBLING DOWN THE STAIRS! OMFG!!!!"

and now this :D amazing!

I cant download the high def videos at all, it just brings me to a blank page.

imagine VALVe re-creates the ending scene of HL2 with Phys-x support.
or FEAR's Big ass Explosion D:

I wont be getting one anytime soon-ish. Especially when they're $300 iirc.
Plus my SLi set-up will be able to do physics soon too. So i don't need one immediately.

I still think they're pretty impressive though.

Its a mpeg4 only quicktime and real player play it got both newest versions. None make it work. I found a wmp. version not HD but still good enough.

How about a BF2 battle with phys-x support ?
Hmm, more complex vehicles... Yeshhh... Thin sheet metal walls bending and tearing dynamically? Yessshhh. Things like jeeps bending and tearing dynamically, perhaps being run over by a tank? YESHHH. Tanks with treads that are physically simulated to move the tank. YESHHHHHHHH!!!

Imagine whole buildings exploding! Rubble falling from the sky like rain!

:D

Just think what Valve could do with the citadel explosion :D
