Physgun: Installation and Use Guide
As most of you already know, there has been made a mod which allow you to play HL2 with the Physgun shown in a E3 movie (exept it uses the same skin as the manipulator).
I see many people having trouble installing the mod as well as using it so here is a short guide which hopefully will be to some help.
1. Installment
First you need to download the mod, which is situated here:
Physgun Mod
Once your download is finished, extract the content to the directory wich include the Half Life 2 exe file. (Steam\Steamapps\<your username>\half life2\<extract here>)
Now you must cailbrate Half Life 2 to apply the mod.
If you're using Steam, rightclick on Half Life2, go to Properties, click on Launch Options and type in: <-console -game jbmod>
If you've made a shortcut on your desktop, rightclick on the icon, go to Properties and in the "target" line it should look something like this depending on where your Steam files are situated: <"c:/Valve/SteamApps/Etc/Hl2.exe" -console -game jbmod>
2. Getting Started
Launch Half Life 2.
Note that you are no longer capable of loading a game from one of your previously saved games. You must load a map useing the console-command: map <mapname> to load new levels.
If you want your savegames back sometime, simply remove the launch-commands explained above.
Once you've started a game in a map of your desire, open the console and enter: <get weapon_physgun>
When you close the console the physgun (which looks exactly like the manipulator) should be in your hands, and in the weapons-meny #6 under the granades and possibly the RPG.
3. Using the Physgun
The primary trigger of the Physgun launches a blue beam which allows you to grab non-organic objects to move them around as you please.
The secondary launches a red-welding-mass.
To weld two objects togeather, one red-welding-mass must be placed on both of the objects on the location you want them to be connected.
When this is accomplished you must use the primary beam to move one of the objects onto to other to make the two red masses meet.
At the moment the beam turns from blue to red you release the primary trigger and the two objects will then be succesfully connected. Note that this final phase only occurs when the two red-welding-masses are in contact.
If anyone have found a way to increase the amount of red-welding-masses, please let us now. As for now, the number is 36 (I think), and the moment you press reload all the red-welding-masses is "unwelded" and returned to your inventory allowing you to use them again.
Hope you'll find this useful!
Add any corrections or comments as you please to the thread and I will make changes if necessary.
Good Luck Welding!
